Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | Hey Joe, Just called up Shimano myself and got a power handle for my TE. Call the order line and get the handle from Shimano parts 1-877-577-0600. Mine was $52 or so plus S/H for my TE400. Have a good New Years! James

Posts: 20219 Location: oswego, il | I have an older calcutta 400. I bought my shimano power handle on ebay, I don't remember the exact price but it was less than 30 bucks. It has the big rubber knob but the problem I found was the extra weight of that knob engaged the reel as I casted it, almost 1/2 the time. I had to take it off in fear of breaking the line.

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | You need to replace your CLUTCH RETURN SRING part # BNT2711 & BNT1223 RETRACTOR SPRING. The springs get weak/old and that will happen when you cast with a power handle. The parts # are for the Calcutta 400TE reel. If you have a 400B, you will need CLUTCH RETURN SPRING # BNT1307 & they use the same RETRACTOR SPRING for both. SHIMANO PARTS # is 1-877-577/0600, I order 6 at a time and replace a least once a year. Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | I think it will work but look at your reel SCHEMATICS, if U can't find yours call Shimano and they will look it up for U. I supertune reels for a hobby, this winter I will supertune over 20-30 reels like the Daiwa Luna's, Shimano Calcutta TE and B, any ABU reels. It's a lot of fun and keeps me busy in the winter. When I supertune a reel I will take it apart and replace any old - worn parts, replace spool bearings with ABEC 7 CERAMIC bearings, polish all points of contact on the spool shaft and the inside of the pinion gear, upgrade drags with carbontex and polish the washers , clean out all the old reel oil and grease and replace with Hot Sauce oil and grease, shim the gears, sometimes I will spent over 2-3 hours to supertune and shim a reel to get to run as smooth as butter. I love to open up a new reel and see what she has . Japan has a lot of upgrades for reels but it is a B???H to get them, also I just found a company in SWEDEN that has some very cool upgrade parts for ABU reels. U can go to http://www.tackletour.com and go to the SUPERTUNE and MAINTENANCE SECTION, great forum for reel upgrades. I just got done with a ABU 6500C3, I put 3 more bearing inside, so now it has 6 and put on a 4 bearing handle, so now it has a total of 10 bearings and it is now one sweet smooth reel.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | PIKEMASTER-So if I just bought a new TE400 I should be good to go for a while without the handle engaging the rell with the new handle as I cast? Thanks for the info on the springs. I will order 10 or so depending on the price. James
