| HELLO ALL...I'M CONSIDERING THE PURCHASE OF BOTH THE 8'6" 4-10 OZ. AND THE 8' 3/4-6 OZ. VERSIONS...WE ALL KNOW THAT THE WEIGHT RATINGS FROM MANUFACTURER TO MANUFACTURER CAN VARY AS TO WHAT THE RODS CAN "TRULY" HANDLE EFFECTIVELY...DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY "HANDS-ON" EXPERIENCE AS FAR AS THE "TRUE LOW END" AND "TRUE HIGH END" OF EACH OF THOSE MODLES AND ANY OTHER OVERALL THOUGHTS ON THEM...?...THE REELS ON THEM WILL BE LUNA 300L'S W/80 LB. POWER PRO...

| Stushsky... I own the St Croix Tournament 8' 3/4-6oz. I love this rod. I bought it in July of this year. I am finally used to that BRIGHT BLUE color! The rod works great but not sure if it was worth the bucks I spent... thats still up in the air. I have a Daiwa Luna 300 mated to it which is now 2 years old and going strong. The St Croix Tournament is overall a solid/tough rod. |

| I have the 8'6'' big dawg rod....The lighest thing I threw with this was double 10's which worked fine...and the heaviest lure I threw were pounders in November up on the pond which also worked fine with no flaws. Also Daiwa luna's were used on this rod all season which also worked fine. This rod is even better made out to 9 feet with a 18 butt section. |

| First off I am sorry for not responding to your email. I must have completely missed it. Sorry again.
The Tournament is a very nice blank. St Croix has designed a series of blanks that are unlike no other that I know of at this time. They have a taper change every 1/2 inch instead of 3 tapers down the entire stick. This makes the blank stronger.
Personally I have built on all of them. My favorite is the mega bass swimbait. The musky series XH is just to stiff for my liking. I do not like a stick that does not allow the tip to bend. Lots of important things happen with tip bend.....easier casting because the rod does the work and tip bend allows pressure to the fishes mouth when hooked up. Braided line does not stretch so something has to absorb the fight otherwise you get slack in your line which is no good.

| The Mega Swimbait in the Bass Series is an awesome muskie stick, but not for the baits you mentioned. I'd go with the 8'6" in the Muskie Series for those. Just my opinion. Steve |

| I love it for "finesse" techniques like grinding spinnerbaits and walking cranks. Also a great bucktail/topwater rod. Not for the big stuff though. Steve |

| I used the 8-6 big dawg all season long and found it to be great,so great i am going to by another one.I threw everything from regular sized shallow dawgs,cowgirls 13 suzies,mag dawgs no pounders cause i prefer the big suzie in regards to bait life but the rod performed very well for me and i found it in my hands alot once i got it.The rod suits my most common bait preferences very well.One great rod. |

| thanks kawartha kid and special thanks to keith at pro edge..he took the time over the phone in a quite lengthy conversation to walk me through the many differences between the various manufacturers blanks and options that are available and i hope to be placing my order with him for my two "customs" within the next few weeks...his knowledge and experience put me at ease as far as what will work best for my needs...!

I'm ordering a 9' custom tournament legend from Frank's Custom Rods, was thinking about getting a longer butt section. I'm planning to put a calcutta 700 te on it, just curious if anyone is using this set up and how you like it. |

| I love the big dawg rod! I was burnin big blades this summer and chuckin pounders with it this fall flawless....also that longer handle really helps throw the larger lures with ease plus you can really put the screws to a fish with the handle tucked up under your arm unlike a smaller handle like what it on the avids. |
