I have a 2004 V Max that so far has been trouble free.

Here's my problem, I haven't fished much this year because of work but the last 3 times out the over heat alarm has been going off after about 15 min. of low speed trolling (2-4 mph.).....
Also the pisser stream seems weak at low RPM.....

At higher RPM, and speed the stream is stronger and the alarm never comes on....

I'm thinking that the impeller needs to be replaced, what do you guy's think??

My buddy has a 2005 and it stopped pissing completely, I think he changed the water filter and everything was good.

Sounds like you need a new impeller.

Ditto re: new impeller. Our 135 Opti was doing the same thing this summer and the impeller fixed it.

Get the impeller changed before you go out again. It's a blessing to see that your water pressure is going down before your impeller implodes. I've had mine fall apart and was dead in the water. You should be able to fix it yourself for around $20-$30. Get the book and the part. I changed the one in my 50 Yami on the pontoon and it only took me 1/2 hour.

BTW, they should be replaced every 2-3 years as a common practice anyway.

You also might want to check the Poppet Valve, Sand and debris can plug it up. I have a 04 225 Vmax and was experiencing low water pressure and I cleaned it out and I had good pressure afterwards.
