Some guys here are great at it! My procedure is simple. I use aluminum foil and crush it. I then take the foil and semi flatten it out. I then paint and dry half way. Then I take a rag with alcohol and wipe off the high spots. Let this dry and then take your bait template and trace this out on the back side of the foil and cut it out. I then make up a small batch of epoxy and apply a small amount on the non painted side of the foil and stick this to my bait. I use the rest of the epoxy on the entire bait and hang to dry. At this point you can either apply more epoxy coating or you can paint more onto the epoxy where you don't want the foil to show through. I usually paint the belly, back and head what I want it to look like leaving the sides with the foil showing through and then a few more coats of epoxy. Walla, you are good to go. Like I said, others here have a much better method and better baits. I think Tigger (or someone) had an entire thread with pictures. I will search and see if I can find it.

Try reading some of these threads. Also some great pictures.
Good luck and post some pictures when you are done.

FYI-Not sure of the URL anymore but some bass forum has a great thread on foiling baits if you can find it.
Here is one good link but it is not the one I was thinking of:

snoekfisker,

I either "cruble" the foil up in my hands or I have used various houshold items to push the foil onto. Get an old wicker basket or scale netting and push the foil into it then paint and rub the paint off the high spots with a rag or rag with solvent. I have made some real cool designs using our burber (sp?) carpet as a backing too. Anything with texture works. An old screen door might work good too. These are a few of many ways you can imprint the foil. Some even glue the screens or netting to the bait first and then glue the foil over it and just push the foil into the bait.
