| I am in the market for a depth finder / GPS combination unit and I am thinking of a Lowrance 520 series. I am wondering about the effectiveness of the built in GPS antenna on the LMS-522C iGPS. Is there any loss of performance with the internal antenna?
Thanks
Ray

Location: Brooklyn Park | If you are going to put the unit under a console stay away from the 522. It has trouble picking up a signal. If it is going to be in the open with no interference then the 522 is a good option. |

| I agree with Maxey...go with the puck for the console...if on the bow the 522 is great...I have a 522 on our cabin boat and it works great...

Location: Land of the Musky | I have a 522iGPS and love it. No loss of signal yet and I have tilted it a ways. The first ones that came out had some problems but Lowrance supposedly fixed the antenna problems. I have a new one... Also use it as an ice pack. Good unit IMO if you get a new unit. Don't buy a used one IMO due to the potential problems as discussed above.

| I put a 522c with internal antenna on the bow this spring.Does a cloudy day or different locations make a difference in aquiring a signal? Some locations seem to lock on better than others. |
