| Bill Schear (sp?) in Boulder Junction ties Muskie flies and also fishs em himself so they are weighted about right but I dont know what his email is he also has some videos of muskie fly fishing available. In milwaukee there is a fly shop owned by Pat Ehlers called the Fly Fishers he has some lareg streamer flies and he also fly fishes muskies on the wisconsin river. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | You might want to try some of the saltwater stuff. Also consider European sources, there are many fisherman over there that fish for northern pike w/ fly's. I've got a couple I picked up at a fishing show in Denmark.

| I throw a variety for 'skis. From Puglisi flies, to Billfish flies, Deceivers, and xxxClousers. It seems, though, my best 'ski fly is a Variation of Blanton's flashtail Punch. Huge profile, large head that moves a lot of water, hard to throw, but catches fish.
Another, would be flashtail whistler.
Edit: A great little Flyshop, too, is Hayward Flyfishing Company. Larry and Wendy Mann are two of the most knowledgeable fly anglers I can think of for musky. Give them a call, for sure.

Location: Illinois | If you're ever in the south suburbs of Chicago, a really nice baitshop called Fishing Connection has a supply of Musky flies. It is located in tinley Park, on south side of 159th St, between Harlem Ave. and LaGrange Ave. the owner Greg is supplied by a local fly-maker and can make custom flies upon request. |

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Great stuff! Now I know where to look. Finally bought a musky fly rod and reel. This year's week long fall musky trip made me think about getting into fly fishing for this king of freshwater. I need to be challanged again with fishing for musky. My way like must of us to me is losing focus. Hard to describe, I think the sport is getting pushed towards techno geeks not true outdoorsman! Too darn scientific and complex. I need a season of going back to my younger years with something new and challenging. The manner in which I approach this sport of fishing seems to easy! Crazy for the fish of 10,000 casts! I tried this fall to drift spots more than use the electronics, was more satisfying using mother natures wind to cover a dying weed bed hump! Especially when a large fish would swim behind my bait. A fly rod might just give me the drive back or excitement of catching this prized fish. I never want to take for granted catching a large musky! or any musky! |
