Posts: 28 | i am just getting into muskie fishin and not sure what kind of line to use. I fish a lake in norwestern Ontario, it is a deep clear lake. what would be the best kind, colour and strength to buy? though not sure strength matters much because i reeled in a 46incher this spring on 8lb. test.

Posts: 2024 | Pick a brand from the following since they are all pretty much the same: Power Pro, Stealth, Spectron, TUF. The more important thing is pound test. Whichever brand you buy, make sure you buy at least 80 pounds regardless of water clarity, IMO.

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | 80 lb SPIDERWIRE ULTRACAST in green or the new invis a braid, it also comes in yellow. This line will outcast ANY braid out there !!!!! and has exceptional abrasion resistance with unbeatable knot strenght. It will cost a little more but it will last and hold up all season long. 2nd choice would be Mason Tiger braid. Edited by PIKEMASTER 11/7/2007 11:21 AM

Posts: 73 Location: Indiana | I kinda like the Stren 80lb superbraid. Why??? Because apparently I suck and get lots of backlashes when casting. Although I like to blame the reel/wind/boat partner/lure, it's most often the line. Yup...definately the line. Since I get way fewer backlashes with it, I figure the Stren's the best. Although it could still be the boat partner...I haven't ruled that one out yet.

Posts: 79 Location: South Dakota | I like the sufix 80 lb braid. My line never breaks on backlashes, just my leader snaps. I need to find new leaders. Edited by sodaksker 11/7/2007 4:18 PM
