I got my hands on this summer the new St. Croix 7'9XXXH. Throws the mag dawgs with ease, but will allow you to throw the pounder also. There are other rods, but this is what I have been using and love it.

I throw plastics up to the size of a mag dawg on a 8 1/2 legend tournament extra heavy and pounders and big suzies on the 7 9" xxxh.I find the legend gets alot more use and is more versatile than the xxxh as i also throw alot of other baits on the LT like cowgirls, regular dogs, big joes etc.But there is a deffinet place in my boat for the xxxh as it is the best rod i have ever used for throwing the really big stuff previously mentioned.I have thrown the real big stuff on the LT but it does not feel anywhere near as good as the xxxh at handling the real heavy stuff.I should mention that i have used the xxxh for throwing mag dawgs as well and it feels real good to,it does not feel to heavy for slightly smaller baits. When i was looking for a stick for the heavy stuff i was torn between these two rods and could not come to final choice so i got both and am more than happy with my choices and have no regrets. One happy muskie guy!

8'6 Professional Edge Diamonback, Heavy action.

Great bulldawg rod and great rod for figure 8'ing dawgs, you can really make them shoot out with the lenght and soft tip for a "heavy" action rod.
