Posts: 317 | every now and then, it's OK to take a fish. He will be proud of that fish the rest of his life, and it looks like he's hooked now. Hopefully he becomes one of us-dedicated and protective of the resource. For now, he's just a happy kid. Good job little guy!

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | 4X his height, 6X his weight... It's pretty amazing that a kid that only stands 10.5 inches tall and weighs 3.3 pounds could reel in a fish that size. I'm sure it was an awefully big day for that little boy, but don't you think this is what sets people up to keep fish for the rest of their life? If Dad always kept every big fish that came into the boat, that's just the way it's done right? This would have been a great chance to teach that little boy about catch and release at a very early age. I don't want to be a musky hugger, but I had a little conversation with somebody that knows of a 51 inch musky being kept in the area also (and that guy was fishing for muskies). He said this area seems to be in the dark ages as far as catch and release goes. I totally agree. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for the kid, but I wish we could get the word out about catch and release in Wisconsin. curleytail

Thanks, man. BTW, nice story about the kid and his fish. I've never caught one that big so I hope his memory lasts a lifetime.
