Fished Du Bay today and it was a tough nut to crack. I figured the fish would be very shallow with the warm water temps. 68-70. I had one dandy take a swipe at a Rad Dog near the boat and hit the blade and that was all I saw. I even trolled the channel and creek breaks from 7-10, no luck. How did everyone else do?

I got out today w/ Whooligan for about 6 hours. Had a great time. Not sure how many fish he and I had up total but highlights were a fish hitting a foul hooked bobbie on the surface but got away, a small one caught, and we had a 4 footer up 3 times that I hope to get on Monday.

Got out on Friday for a half day of fishing before a weekend of studying. Stuck a scrappy 38", my partner lost one on a Top Raider at first dark, and one other follow.

I took my roll troller out yesterday for the first time and am spending today recovering with a sore back and calves. I guess I am not in as good a shape as I thought.

Lost another fish, that makes me 6 for 23 this year. I cant figure out why so many fish have come unglued for me this year. My hooks are sticky sharp and I assure you the hookset is a strong one but the hooks wont stay put this year. This one ate a Pacemaker and I mean ate it. I watched it inhale the entire bait 20' from the boat, it closed it's mouth and turned so I slammed the hooks. I felt 2 good headshakes and it was gone. Judging from the head to dorsil to tail lenght it was a good 40" for sure. O well, next week is Atv weekend up near Eagle River then Bay Denoc for Walleyes early November with some Musky's in between, It's gona be a great fall.

As Pointer said, I had the night of my life on Friday. my buddy and I went 5 for 6, with four of them being over 40 inches. All of them were on my own bucktails too, which was really cool. I also got my second biggest (but possibly the heaviest?) to date, a very fat wisconsin river 48 incher. Last night I went out again and didn't even see one....

went back "home" for the weekend and did some trolling on the Fox.
it was fun to get out in the boat with my dad and my nephew.

as you can see from the first picture, the muskies were flying in the net!
you're welcome to try and figure out these secret spots.

Fished yesterday at an "undisclosed location" with K-Bob. Saw a few fish, made solid contact with a dink. Fished Holcombe and Old Abe today with a friend. Moved a nice fish, he landed a 39, I failed too hookup on one. All in all a terrible weekend that was completely excellent.
(I wasn't going to post about the big girl, but K-Bob already did. I really hope you stick that one, she'll go that, not a doubt in my mind.) Thanks for the great time!

Fished most of the day Saturday up in Land O Lakes. Water levels are way up, 4" of rain in the last week, and water temps hoovering around 62 on saturday, 64 sunday. Boated a 41-43 that was released from the net. Bait? MUSKY TREAT on the f-8. 5th time around.

For the site seers....sorry, the leaves are history, no more pretty colors.

We stopped into Skyview on Saturday night, the Bob Ellis was just ending their dinner. 2 fish won it, a 37+ and a 40+ I believe. Got a chance to meet a fishing icon, Bill Gardner. Super nice guy. Believe it or not, he pops in here from time to time.

Chuck, who cares about those old days and old guys. LOL. I can almost bet we probably have more competition on the river than you had to deal with back in the old days! The spot where Aroz got those fish, is from what I have seen the last couple years is a very overlooked spot. It was so obvious that one glance at the pics you knew exactly where he was at. Pointer and I just feel we are doing our upperclassman duty and helping to ensure that he will have those spots to almost himself if they are kept quiet. Right PP?

Filmed a really cool tip segment this weekend in Vilas. I should be able to get it on here by Friday. Found some really interesting weed patterns that should continue even though the weather is changing. Am filming on the Wisconsin River this week so I won't be able to get back to the studio for a few days. That, my friends, is a good thing.

Just got back from Vilas. 5 fish in the boat, my brother got a PB. We lost a couple nice ones. Most of the action was on topwater...Weagles and BS Willy thumpers. Jerk baits and suckers were also effective. Water temps were 61 on Friday and up to 66 this morning.

Fished almost 4 days on Mille Lacs (now known as the Snake Pit!). We saw lots of muskies up to about 48", but the majority were 24"-36". I got 2 33"ish and we got at least 7 northerns from 32"-36". Fun, but irratating for what is "expected" from that body of water. I fished 5 days last October with water temps between 47-43. Avoid that time like a plague. We didn't see a fish and were with a top notch guide. Gregg Thomas saw 1 during that time and was the smallest he has ever seen on the lake (32"). Obviously there is a population of "replacement" fish for the aging tankers contrary to what I thought and many believe.

Took my Brother, nephews, and my daughter's boy friend out on poygan for musky and walleye. floating weeds were so bad they sunk boards! Now, in response to other's posts:

"I took my roll troller out yesterday for the first time and am spending today recovering with a sore back and calves. I guess I am not in as good a shape as I thought.

Shane"

You are not the hard driving soldier you used to be, my friend (neither am I).

A-roz, i want to see the pics of the fish you had pinned to your forearm (yup, TJ and Mikey told me about it). Thanx for stopping by the shop, guys!

lambeau, I never knew you grew up in Green Bay (or you told me and I forgot, you pick). I grew up there (if i grew up).

J.Sloan,
Please, tell me you are going to have a new dvd out this winter. felt kind of out of place that there was not a new one last winter.

Pointer, Mercid, A-Roz, I'm sure I've been to that spot recently too if it's where I'm thinking. The river is usually really good to me this time of year but I haven't been out there on the prime days weather wise. This week should be a really hot bite by the end of the week. I'm working Du Bay hard going for the biggies, trying to get her trolling.
