Posts: 401 | I really had a good time fishing with Lambeau this weekend during the tournament. Lady luck was not on our side but that is fishing. Only bad thing about this weekend is sharing a boat with a Packers fan while the Vikings are on the radio. Maybe the fish were sick of listening to it along with Lambeau and that is what make them decide to miss the hooks all weekend. Paul Hartman really runs a nice tournament. Not to mention his musky stocking efforts from this tournament have really made an impact on our waters. Thanks Paul. Hope all is well. Keith

| I would like to thank Paul for a great tournament although no money floated my way my son and I had a wonderful time. We had no pre fishing time with exception on friday late afternoon taking the boat out to a weed bed that we have fished before (about three years ago) and discovered that there were more weeds on it than the past. Spot one was selected and in we went. Saturday morning as we wathed all the other boats take off (we were boat 58) we were wondering how many boats would be on our spot. As we get to it, we are alone, Cass Lake is ours. Lure chucking begins. We finaly (my son) hooks up with a fish and as prepare the net waiting for my son to steer it towards me, it takes a dive under the boat and in an instance it goes airborne 3 feet from the boat and four feet in the air. Puzzled, I watch muskie go south and lure go north. With my quick reactions (insert laughter here) I reach with the net to hopefully catch the fish in mid air. Bottom line, no luck, bye bye fish. Scoreboard is now; musky 1 anglers 0. A few minutes later we catch a few nice northerns. Why is it northerns seem to sink a minimum of two treble hooks in there mouth and muskies can not copy that? Any way my son whispers follow and sure enough we have action again. My son starts eighting this fish but there seems to be no interest. I cast out to the area I see the fish swim to and sure enough she is following my lure. Not only is she following but she is pushing my lure around. We actually thought that some one epoxied her mouth shut. She did this not on just one retrieve but she did it on the second retrieve as well. As the day progressed we had five additional fish come visit us along with some northerns engulfing some treble hooks. Saturdays scoreboard at that time reads muskies 7, anglers 0 northerns who knows, maybe 8 we were not really counting. Day two starts out with sore backs, forearms and hands that do not want to open up very easy. Back to our spot and within an hour my son raises one up. He has the front of the boat so he gets first chance. I am sure if I was up there I would be kicking hiss butt like he was kicking mine. Anyway this fish is pretty sluggish and does not stay around. We spend another couple of hours with no excitement with the exception of me almost doing a header into the water. Apparently I should have not been moving when that big wave hit. We decide to get out of the wind and run over to Allens bay. Scoreboard at this time is musky 1 anglers 0. (See the pattern here?) On the way there we said we should try Andrusia as neither one of us has fished it before. First spot on Andrusia we got skunked. Second spot my son raises a fish and she seemed pretty hot. She turns and as my son is eighting I cast back to the spot and here she comes on my lure. This is where De Ja Vue sets in. This fish is pushing my manta around and not opening her mouth. My son says to me " hey dad its old epoxie girl". How strange is this I think. Anyway she says good bye to us and we do not see her again. We drift over some nice cabbage and i change over to a prop style top water. A few casts and I get a blow up right behind my lure. I see only a tail and this looks like a nice fish. How the heck can you miss a straight retrive lure? This fish must have been blind. I finish my retrive only to see the "blind" fish looking up at me and I swear it was laughing. I never got her to bite and i really think I do not like her much. Any way we try some more spots and get another 6 fish to come and visit us. Todays score reads muskies 8 anglers 0. All and all we never brought home any money back to the wife, but the laughter and memories will be priceless. I know Paul should thank us for entering the tournament and parting ways with my hard earned money but I would like to thank Paul for putting these tournaments together which gives me an avenue to get close to my son again. Not only does it force us to get up early to fish but there is a chance you could bring some cha ching back with you. Paul, thank you very much and I hope to do this on Cass lake again next year. I had a blast. | |||

| MN puts out big fish, after big fish, and more big fish. Even if the Vi-Queens don't win! I will take that over a superbowl anyday! | |||

MN puts out big fish, after big fish, and more big fish. it puts out some pretty good fishermen too... i believe that this year's Frank Schneider 1st and 2nd place finishers are on that leaderboard. so is last year's MMTT Cass/Leech winner and other top finishers, as well as perennial teams in the hunt for Anglers of the Year. fishing? good. football? not so good.
