Personally I won't wear any blaze orange when fishing. I wear my camo Gore-Tex Thinsulate stuff when it gets cold. Judging by the background of the sky/ horizon, I wear Treetop camo that is gray and off white, etc. I can only guess that a muskie looking up at your lure as it approaches the boat just might be turned off by a blaze orange scarecrow. I don't know of any scientific proof, but I won't wear it.

Posts: 786 Location: Minnesota | Watch out! Orange seemed to be the hot color the last few years. A boated muskie is not legal when your coat catches it...lol On a serious note, I doubt it matters. Look at some of the paint jobs on boats with the lettering too. Lots of bright paint. IMO if they are not spooked by boats they are not spooked by you. JMO but an excellent question! To add, woudl muskies see ornage or woudl they see an off brown? Not sure how thier eyes work.. James

Posts: 8829 | On one hand, I agree with the poster who said that if the boat doesn't spook them, the color of your clothes won't either. With super agressive fish or dark/stained water, I'd say that's true. But having scared off probably 50 - 75 different fish over the last few years, I have to believe that anything you can do to make yourself less visible is going to up your percentages quite a bit. There was a topic a while back about "lucky" fishing clothes/hats/etc. My "lucky" fishing shirt was (it literally fell apart ![]() Back then I never thought about the fact that it was the same color as the sky, but now I REALLY wonder...

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | If you're fishing during gun deer season I would wear orange. A few shooting accidents up here over the years. Couple of tourists shot at a school bus one time, another shot a horse out from under a rider. Always some idiot who will shoot at movement . Be Safe!!! JS
