Posts: 90 Location: ne53 | I got some Cabela's "Snow Runners" last fall to winter fish in. Very comfortable and rated to -45 below. Retail for just under $60. The toes stayed toasty and feet didn't get sore from standing all day casting.

Posts: 20270 Location: oswego, il | I have some bass pro gortex boots and wool socks. No problems here. I also wear a snowmobile suit, many times I am sweating and don't even need gloves. If you are plenty warm, it will help your feet, head and hands stay warm too. Attachments ---------------- 041507 003 (3).jpg (64KB - 137 downloads)

Posts: 2112 Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | Wow! look out Todd, there is a big net ready to capture you! Were you fishing on the planet of the apes? LOL LaCrosse footwear has always been good to me. Low budget, go to your local Surplus store, and ask for "Mickey Mouse" boots. They look a little silly, but they are warm, and waterproof.

| If your fishing cold temps look at the Kamik insulated rubber boot (water proof nice to have on a boat). or Acton, they have a felt liner and are good for most temp you will encounter. get two liners and you can dry out one pair over night. they are usually on sale between $30-35 Get them a size or two larger. here is what they look like http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efo... P.S. if you fall in you can kick them off in the water unlike laced boots. something to think about. | |||

Posts: 8849 | I've got a pair of these that work pretty well: http://www.danner.com/product/hunting+boots/insulated/frontier&... If I had it to do all over again though, I'd do two things differently: 1. Buy a shorter boot 2. Get a pair with the rubber over the toe. When you're kneeling down a lot rigging suckers or whatever, boat carpet shreds up the leather pretty good.

| you won't go wrong if you invest the extra money for a quality. i like insulated Matterhorn's for low-intensity in the cold like hunting and fishing. http://www.corcoranandmatterhorn.com/Category.asp?CategoryID=38 just be sure to match the right amount of insulation to your expected activity level and not to over-dress - this includes not wearing socks that are too heavy. too much will make you sweat and sweat will make you cold once you stop moving. | |||
