| This could be somewhat lengthy.
Several years ago we had a family July 4th outing on a area lake. It's supposed to have some decent muskies in it, but it's a major summer lake with a lot of tourist boating, too.
We were just out slowly cruising in my boat and we went by a small bay maybe 25yds in diameter. The kids saw some fish up near shore and wanted to know what kind they were so I put the trolling motor down and moved into the narrow bottleneck to the bay to take a look. Just as I entered the bottle neck I looked down at what I first blew off as being a log laying on bottom. Instead it was a huge muskie and she just layed there and let the boat go right over her. The fish payed no attention what ever to us even when I stopped the boat for everyone to get a look at this huge fish.
All of a sudden it darted off under the boat. I thought we spooked it and it took off. I started to move the boat farther into the bay and saw the muskie come back to the exact same spot it was before.
After watching this fish for about 20 min, we realized that it had a school of maybe 20 suckers corraled on one side of the bay under a log. A sucker would try to escape out the opening of the bay, and all the muskie did was chase it back to the school and go back to where it was lying in the opening of the bottle neck. The muskie kept the suckers tightly cornered, yet let a nice sized smallmouth bass roam around the bay. The bass even left the bay while we were there watching and the muskie did nothing to stop it.
The muskie was still there when we left. I went back a couple hours later and nothing had changed except that the smallmouth was back roaming around again.
It was interesting watching, for sure. |

| Must be nice to be a bully! I bet that bay was full of sucker poop.
I had a mid 40's fish this weekend push my lure to the surface and never opended it's mouth to eat it. To bad for me.[:(] |

| ToddM,
I also had a large fish do that this year using an undertaker, he just butted it with his nose up to the surface, I still shake a lil thinking bout it.
