Posts: 512 Location: Appleton | Finally got a muskie this weekend. It had been a little bit of a drought. (no fish in august) Got up to the Bay of GB. Nailed a 39" fish trolling over 18' of water. Nice day out. I'll try to post a pic later. Attachments ---------------- GB Muskie.JPG (74KB - 189 downloads)

Posts: 227 Location: Southeast Wisconsin | Nice work fellas! The fish were moving for us as well. Popped a gang of shorties on pewaukee thurs, fri, sat with a few decent legals mixed in..lost the two biggest fish we contacted (40-42) on the figure 8. More craziness as usual. I was throwing a swimbait and decided to switch colors. I switched, dropped the swimbait in the water with the rod hanging overboard and went to stow my box when I heard some ruckus in the water. Looked over to see a big tail swim by. I grabbed the rod and the fish smashed my bait on the second turn. Also spent a little time on Okauchee and another less fished lake in the system thats been on fire for us this year..Stuck it out today for 2 fattys and 3 rips..Of course there were plenty of the "unmentionables" to keep us busy in between skis. Posts: 3511 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Hi everyone, Well...fishing by myself I do not carry a camera (I should). Saturday I lost one that hit a LOW rider, figured roughly 37 inches or so. Sunday, on the other hand turned out to be very nice to me...probably my best day ever on Minnesota waters. With the labor day rush happening on my normal lakes, I decided to go to a different lake just to get away from the muskie crowds...and it paid off. On one piece of structure I saw 3 fish and caught a 33 incher. The fish missed the bait the first time but cleared the water trying, then it came right back and hit about 15 feet from the boat. Short fight, but a fat fish for 33. I decided to fish the edge again, but start a little further down from my first pass...it paid off as well with a very fat, chunky 44 inch fish. That one just hit and went where it wanted to. Very healthy and quite pretty. Took an afternoon break and went in for lunch. That evening I figured if I saw a fish I would be quite happy...the weekend was already made. At this point, I had already doubled my entire summer catch for Minnesota (I am now up to 4....it was that bad this summer for me) so I was just enjoying my night on the water. I went back to the same piece of structure and had another fish follow, but didn't hit. I went all the way around the structure and decided to try along the section again that I had all the action from before. I changed baits and went with a topwalker. I had a follow and the fish flashed away when it got close to the boat. I immediately switched baits and went with a jackpot and threw back to where the fish followed from. a few swooshes and BAM The fish just engulfed the bait. This one fought hard and took me around the boat. Once spent, it was in the net and 46 inches of beauty was on her way back. The only thing that seemed odd about this fish is that it's skin was red...not bleeding, but looked pretty raw all over. I've never seen that before, but the fish seemed really healthy and took off hard. Nonetheless, 3 fish in one day with two mid-40's in the boat. If I didn't catch another fish this year, I'd be just fine now. Although things have been mediocre at best, this weekend finally brought my season up. Glad I still have a few more weekends to get out and get them...maybe there is that magic 50 for me yet this year.... Steve

Posts: 5874 | I fished GB for walleyes this weekend. Saw at least 4 muskies. This was out on the Bay. One of these years, I'm going to make good on my threat to actually get out there and focus on fishing them. Edited by Shep 9/4/2007 8:49 AM

Posts: 2515 Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Only fished about 1.5 hours this last weekend. Nabbed a mid 30's on a Muskie Treat and my brother missed two on Suicks. water temps are dropping, fish are alot more active. We need more rain in the LOL's area of Vilas. Water levels are still way too low.

Posts: 1316 Location: Madison, WI | Mille lacs putting a whooping on us, Got up Wednesday night fished from 10:00pm- 4:00am didn’t see a fish. Went in for a quick nap, got back on the water around 6:30 started off at on north end raising a few fish on anglers, then worked our way to malmo sand flats and back into the malmo weeds raising a few more fish there, we fished till about noon then went back for another quick nap. We had originally hired Lee Tauchen for a full day on Thursday but due to weather and uncooperative fish he needed another day to hopefully salvage an episode of Next bite with Mania. Just before we got in, Lee called us up and said he’d pick us up at 6:00pm at the red door for a ½ day. We moved about 9 or 10 fish in the 30 mins fishing the Malmo weeds, then the sun went down and fish shut off, we fished till about mid-night and didn’t move a fish. Friday morning we started off on anglers popping a 38 inch and 32 inch pike right away while getting a couple of muskie to chase baits. Got me thinking TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Well guess what, nope! We fished too the night, proceeded to move more fish, but still not getting anything of them open. We tried some shallower fishing (2-4 ft) with no luck. Most of our fish were coming out of the deeper weeds (10-12ft) on dawgs and double 10’s. Darrell did raise a dandy on pacemaker. I also raised a knee buckler on a 10 which didn’t even give me a chance to 8 before she was gone. Saturday we were pushed to the south east corner, fishing cove bay. Darrell stuck a 20+ inch walleye on a double home made bucktail on an 8! Just crazy, we fished rocky/Anderson and vinland bay not seeing a fish for the rest of day. We started off mid morning on Sunday, it was getting very tough to get out of bed by this time! I stuck a mid 30’s pike and while D was burning his dawg in raised one of only 2 fish that day, oh and D caught a 26 inch walleye on a dawg. Monday was travel home, so a recap… …3 pike and 2 walleye, we raised over 30 fish with a couple in the magic number. It was a punishing week with really nothing to show except for a character building session and alittle more knowledge gained on a new body of water. The sick thing is I’m looking forward to going back, SOON! Edited by Magruter 9/4/2007 1:00 PM

Posts: 127 Location: Brookfield | I was on the 3 lakes chain this weekend. I stuck a 30" and lost 6 other fish in a 3 day trip. They were dancing on top of the water after I set the hook and all but 1 shook it. My buddy managed to get 3 in the boat, 2 34's and a 30. We had atleast 20 other follows. We even went to Rollie and Helens one afternoon. I only spent $55.00, my wife was shocked. NUT

Posts: 37 Location: se wi | I managed to get dragged out on Pewaukee for a few hours Sunday night. The musky gods smiled on me as I boated 2. The 1st was about a 32" a little after 9 pm. It hit a topwater. The last spot of the night treated me very well. We had fished it earlier and didn't see a thing but decided to hit it once again as there was a wedding reception on shore there, hoping maybe we could see some drunk bridesmaids getting frisky. The pumping of the bass from the 80's rock coming from the DJ must have turned this big girl on. Shortly after my cast my cell phone started ringing. Thankfully I didn't answer as the big girl hit shortly after the ringing started. She ate to the tune of Little Red Corvette. She sucked in a topwater and the fight was on. A few minutes later we netted my 1st 50"er!! After a couple pics she swam off strong. That was the last cast of the night. We proceeded to drink the rest of the beer in the boat and call back the guys who's call I missed during the whole ordeal. They had just pulled off the water as the fish weren't eating. They put the boat back in and came over for a few beers and then we boated over to one of the bars for a few more. Thanks for getting me out there, guiding me, netting the fish and taking the pictures Rick!! Attachments ---------------- release.JPG (31KB - 171 downloads) horizontal.JPG (29KB - 173 downloads)

Posts: 229 Location: Plover, WI | Was up north this weekend with my dad. The weather was nice, and so was the fishing. Saturday, I continued where I left off two weeks ago... setting the hooks into fish, only to not have them get hooked at all!!! Oh well, call it early release. Sunday was different, however, as my dad and I each stuck a ski within 10 minutes of moonset. Final count, 2 missed strikes, 2 follows, and 2 fish. Not a bad weekend Attachments ---------------- 38.jpg (6KB - 177 downloads) 39.jpg (7KB - 185 downloads)
