| This is my 2nd year on this starting battery. I use it to start the Honda, run lights and the Garmin graph. It has never needed recharging. I thought the Honda was maintaining it until today...ops. Is 2 years about all one can expect from a starting battery??? |

Location: Willoughby, Ohio | Well, the Optima I use for starting (and everything else but the trolling motor) is well into its 5th season. I've had it go dead on me twice over the winter due to small electrical shorts. After a good recharge, it has always come right back to full power. ARe you certain the battery is dead and not just discharged? |

| Charged it last night at a slow charge and the charger said it was full this am. I was just wondering if people just bought a new one after a certain amount of time. Thanks. |

| Battery is an Interstate Marine/RV. Dealer threw it in when I bought boat motor and trailer from him. Sticker said 11/05 and I got it late Feb. 06. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Check/clean your electrical connections- Most of the batteries out there (marine type) are 3-5 year life. Meaning they age and lose capacity, i.e.,if you just put it in the boat & kept it charged without deep discharging it will last that long.
Batterries are just like woman, they don't last forever.

| You said your battery has never needed recharging, I disagree. Although it will start your motor, and run your electronics, batterys need to be charged regularly. It is best if they are charged to full, rather than left alone at 80 or 70 or 60%. The motor doesn't charge them fully unless you are on a long run coming back, and even then, they probably won't be 100%. |
