Posts: 1168 | Not an actual reading off of a guage, let me explain.... Spent the weekend up at my family's cabin. Hit a lake that has always intrigued me on Sunday night. Decided to move spots, uh oh...can't keep the motor running. Turns out it's a minor electrical issue but not something I could fix on the water at midnight. No problem....trolling motor works. Fire that baby up, make it about 20 feet and that conks out. Launch is a couple of miles back into the wind....but there is a launch that I will kind of sort of be blown into. Break out an anchor to start pitching it, dragging, etc. Moving the boat that way. Too bad my 30 foot anchor rope needed to be doubled and then some in length just to sniff the bottom of where I was fishing. Crap... Off come the clothes, rope tied around the waist and I go for a swim. Had to swim the boat about 3/4 of a mile to a different launch. For anyone who might have seen this it's not everyday they see a stark naked person swimming a boat to shore at midnight. Tie the boat off at the launch, get dressed and go on a 7 mile walk to get my truck. Get it loaded up and after swimming and walking for a good part of the night, I pull back into our place around 3am. Here's the report...water temps are dropping, no shrinkage, and better yet...no water itch. Along with a 36 and 39 to show for these troubles.

| Let's hope you got an outing like that done for a while! Gives a rookie an idea what can take place. Don | |||

Posts: 20278 Location: oswego, il | Hey you could have let the boat drift into shallow enough water and poll the boat to the ramp into the wind with the landing net 300 yards like I did once........ It was november, for me, there would have been shrinkage! Edited by ToddM 8/28/2007 8:34 PM
