ok here's the problem -- 2000 merc 75hp 2stroke is smoking like crazy -- just put in new quicksilver premium and still the same smoking problem -- do I have a bad thermostat or something else going on? -- any suggestion's.

Check your plugs to see if any of them are very oily.

Similar issues with my 1999 60 hp. Took it to shop for checkover prior to our Canada trip. Shop said all was ok. Still runs fine, but I am at a loss too. Kind of embarassing at the boat landing when you smoke everyone off of the dock.

try synthetic oil...without naming a brand it really helped me with my last motor, 75 2 stroke 1995 Merc.

Good luck,
