All you reel men, need your help:
I bought a used Record 60 with the single paddle handle. I am trying to replace it with a Record two-paddle handle, but it won't come off. It appears as if there is a flange on the end of the threaded post that won't allow the handle to come off. It also appears as if there is a thin plate on the back-side of the handle. Does this have anything to do with removal? Thanks for your help.

if i understand you right, the "flange" at the end of the post should be a "C" shaped clip. it's there to keep your handle from coming off, so i guess it's doing it's job!
remove this C-clip by grasping it tightly with a needle-nose pliers on the rounded side and pulling straight away from the post. be very careful as the C-clip is squeezing the post and when it comes off they have a tendency to go flying away across the room. hold tightly and pull towards a towel or something else that would catch it if it gets loose.
once this is out of the way you'll be able to slide the handle up off the post.
the thin plate on the back side of the handle is a spacer for the star drag. make sure you note the way it's sitting on the post so that if it slides off with the handle you can replace it with the "bend" the same way underneath your new handle.
good luck!

cphilli, do you want to unload the single handle? I have a record 60 with the double paddle that I want to switch out for a single.

Thanks for the info. Even I may be able to follow.

Guest, I am going to keep the handle as a spare. Thanks for the offer.

Thanks again.
