Anyone have success on Pike after dark? Going to Canada soon and wanted to try casting for them during the full moon. Can't say I've ever tried to target them specifically like this, but figured some of the guys that night fish muskys may know if pike will hit at night also. If so, any suggestions on tackle? I normally throw jerk baits but don't know how effective they'll be at night.

I have fished my dad's lake in Michigan for 12 years and catch pike in the morning, mid day and before diiner, but at sundown or after have never caught one. I've heard that pike don't bite after the sun goes down, I believe it.

I think it is somewhat a waste of time to target pike after dark...have caught maybe 4 lifetime after dark while fishing for ski's....
give it maybe one hour after sunset then get some sleep...imo

Save your time. Love to pike fish and try to get up to the trophy pike lodges in northern Manitoba and Sask. twice every year........almost any guide up there will tell you pike are a 9am to 4 pm fish. Of course, big fish are caught every year at odd times but on the whole they are a daytime fish. There was group of guys from Cleveland at our lodge this year who got up every morning at 4:30 am and fished for two hours before breakfast. Bewteen six of them they didn't catch one trophy ( 41 inches +) during their pre breakfast fishing. Meanwhile our group usually slept until about 7 and hit the water at 8 and was on prime spots at 9. We caught 43 trophys for the week and not one of them came after 4 pm, even with us putting in 2-3 hours every nite (6-9 pm) chasing walleyes.

Perhaps I just fish weird bodies of water then. Have caught them after dark. Larger than average for those bodies of water. Sure, the action wasn't world beating but the sizes were up.

Must be a European thing, but pike love lures after dark. Some of my fondest memories are fishing for pike at night. Bit of self promotion here, but checkout the lure he was using.

Great Slave Lake(including the Taltson River)NWT has some of the best pike fishing in the world. The only lakes that match or exceed in my eyes are Wollaston Lake and Lake Athabasca in Saskatchewan.Reindeer Lake and Tobin Lake are two other awesome Saskatchewan lakes and Knee Lake in Manitoba is right up there.
This monster was caught in Wollaston Lake.

Pike master .
We fished the Talston in June of 2002 . stayed at the camp of Aurther Beck. Great fishing but deplorable conditions,. I too am curious who you stay with.
