| I recently got two Undertakers as a Birthday gift from a musky fishing buddy of mine. I love the way the baits look but I CAN NOT WORK THEM! I have tried slow jerks, fast jerks, short jerks, long jerks, and combinations of all of the above with no luck. The box says let sink and work with slow jerks. Tried and tried again with no luck. My bait just keeps bobbing up to the surface head first. I have even tried to master this bait while in the clear, clear waters of Smoky Lake in Phelps where I could see exactly what I was doing. Any suggestions?[:blackeye:] |

| I would suggest using a soft tip 76rod. Do really lite taps and it should dance for you. Plus the eratic glide to the top or side every once in a while is what gives you the strikes and not the follows...Good luck and great bait...Ben Remer |

| You may also use a rigid leader atleast as long as the bait.
I have had good success with this set up. My wrist action is about half of that which I would use on a Giant Jackpot.
The baits can be smoked along or crawled. Once you get the action down, you will laugh at how easy it is to get the action out of the bait. |

| So a fairly long and not real heavy rod is the key? I have a XHeavy Fenwick HMG 6' and a Heavy 6'6" HMG. I also have a St Croix 6' MHeavy. Rods longer than 6'6" don't fit in my rod locker so I don't like using them. When you say a stiff leader do you mean a single wire leader like comes on an Eddie bait, or just a good stiff 7 strand? I make my own 7 stands and they are fairly stiff. I am a big glide/jerk bait fan and would love to see that bait work for me. |

| I have been smokin' the skis on an Undertaker using a six foot medium heavy rod, an .050 leader (12"), and 60# spiderwire. I cast the thing out, and give it a sharp downward tug, then upward little pulls will walk it half way back at whatever depth I desire, including the top, depending on the elapsed time between pulls.. Then, halfway or so, I switch to downward pulls, and every three, give it a bit of an upward tug to make 'er DANCE.
The muskies on Pelican love the thing. I CAN'T WAIT to throw it on the GOON this Saturday.[] |

| If it's popping up you are jerking too hard on the bait.
I have two and gave them up for dead also. Tried to get one to work for three months and about a month ago put one in the tackle box one last time to give it another shot. After all a reputable guy sold it to me and raved it as others have so it must work. Lo and behold I got it to work beautiful. The only problem is that I don't know what I did different but I don't care as long as it works.[:)] |

| Baby taps, baby taps!!!!
Take your time and slow down, tap the bait softly and it will go three to four feet down with the best side to side action out there. |

| Immediately stop using them and send them to me. [] |

| You don`t even have to JERK this bait, half turns of the reel handle and the rod at about 4-5 o`clock is all that is needed.Easist most simplistic glider there is to work and it smokes fish too!I already have one retired to the fish`in room completely chewed!I alawys will carry a 1/2 dozen in an array of colors! | I personally found that long and soft tip rod (7') did not work but a very stiff 6'6" did. Its different than other gliders and took me awhile, but once you get it, its great. |

| Great opening day bait....I wont leave home without one.[] |

|
| One pointer that I can give you is....keep the rod tip low. Right down at water level. The short, soft, taps are all that are needed, but it's easies if you keep the tip as low as possible.

| This is a great bait. Just messing around with it I have discovered a few things. YOu want it as a pure glider do light taps but if you want more of an erratic action (side to side, up down, side to side.. etc) then do some slack slapping w/ your rod a foot or two from the water surface w/ your rod held about 10:00. |

| Since last year, I discovered that an 8 foot rod is also perfect for the Undertaker, just tapping the lure along. I can make the thing absolutely dance with my 8 footer. [] |
