| lived in MPL's all my life,,No dad or car in the family growing up so I was forced to spend alot of time on these lakes has I only had a bike range,
now its a sailboaters world,,have you noticed that lake of the isles dosent get harvested has much,,sailboaters dont use it...have you also noticed that sailboaters get to use "gas motors" on electric motor only lakes to get out to their moored sailboats..they dont want to allow gas motors to keep the noise factor down but sailboaters get to,,they also get to shoot oFf CANNONS to start their sailboat races scaring the #### out of anybody close by,,Harriet and Calhoun are the sailboaters heaven and they get groomed pretty heavily. If you have lived in the city since the 70's you would notice they dont mow the park lawns like they used to areas of Minnehaha falls and the "cruisers hill" on nokomis are some examples, they did this to cut city expenses but they dont mind tossing couple hundred grand in milfoil harvesting for the sail boaters..Actually I think a bigger problem is a lack of fat oily easy bullheads, they have really been thined out with the exception being Nokomis has it gets replentished by Minneahaha creek, I think your seeing the so called second andt hird generation fall off that some people predict has far has average size especially on Hariet,,an intresting study would be to check the lake survey reports back to say 82 and check the dip net ratio of bullheads through all surveys up to the present,,also we should push hard for the 48' on MPLS lakes with all the imigrants that have moved here from cultures where fish are considered food and not sport |
