| The Wisconsin River system here has tons on rocky/rip rap shores along all of the bridges and roads crossing them some of these are at least a half mile long, what are your thoughts and tactics for fishing this structure? Is shallow trolling a good option? Thanks.

| Hi Derek, this is out of my expertises but I would think the pattern in which you discribed would be a good bet. If it were me I would ask some one like Jason Schillinger(sp) or Jeff(handyman) since this is their back yard and they have the experience on that water and waters like it, sorry I couldn't have been more help.[:blackeye:] |

| I've experienced a lot of rip rap in reservoirs while fishing muskie as well as bass. Trolling is definitely the way to go until a school is located, then go to the cast. Do not just troll shallow, strain the water until the rip rap bases out (becomes flat). [:praise:] |

| I think rip rap shorelines are outstanding structural elements on Rivers and resevoirs when the wind is really pounding directly into them.God I just love those conditions .Run don't walk if the winds blowin strong and right on those systems that you fish.There can be multiple Skis working over the baitfish getting hammered into the shoreline.Look for spots that turn in and actually funnel the baitfish. These spots don't have to be really distinctive either. Just a small "dent" in an otherwise straight shorline can make a huge difference. The ABSOLUTE ideal condition is a situation where the wind is howling straight into the rip rap at the end of the line- as in THE DAM.Key baits have been minnow baits and gliders worked fast and with an erractic,confused baitfish kind of look-However almost anything seems to trigger these very active and feeding Muskies.You know its gonna be good when your clients are clinging to the safety cable across the dam and your screaming _LET GO DAMMIT AND CAST.I Dont troll so cant help you there;however it may NOT be the most productive presentation in the scenario I just described. |
