Location: Wisconsin | I resigned my double 10, the tail is now bigger and I have also "looped" in the front treble. No double split rings, no clevis. Completely flexible, no kinks....

Location: Wisconsin | Grunt, When I get back from fishing this weekend I will make one up that is bare and you can see how it works....I use a flexible stainless steel wire so I can secure a hook just about anywhere on the lure.... |

Location: Minnesota | Here is one of my DOMINATRIX lures with hair. Only modification I have made is to put that first hook on another split ring that would then be attached to the lure wire body. I should have a few made soon. We should trade a few.
These guys are fun to make but I am surprised at the cost of the terminal tackle to make them. Those big #10 blades are a little costly...

Location: Minnesota | I use the 0.040" thick ones. Minor good and minor bad points in my opinion about both. As for the tail, I also will have some flashabou (thicker stuff) on some others. I can get the same stuff as the Cowgirl uses but, I wanted to make mine a little different so I went with the hair and a different weight of flashabou. IMO it is those big double #10 blades that bring in the muskies and pike. Did very good with some of my prototypes this year in Canada. Have you got many on yours yet? Always fun to catch fish on your own lures!

Location: Wisconsin | Thanks James, Yeah, I just added some rabbit fur to the tail of some of mine. I think it looks nice in the water. But you are right, for the big double 10's, it's those blades!! I had two prototypes this winter and it seemed that you had to reel the .40 faster just to keep them rotating, but the 25 can get damaged easier. I can easily re-wire an entire bucktail in a minute, so if anyone had some bent blades I can replace them no problem. The topwater runs fantastic and we have had several field testers already got some big fish, and some large bass too. We missed several fish this spring so we added the treble up front. I will post or send you a picture of what the double 10 looks like without the tail sometime tomorrow...

I was thinking of making some with 0.18 blades actually. Something you have to bring in real slow or you would warp the blades but perfect to bring in over vegitation when slow is key. A 0.018, 0.025 and a 0.040 line woudl be nice but, I need some more cash to get all of that terminal tackle  I will have about 20 color variation in hair and 20 in flashabou by winter.
Did you build your own site? If so, what program did you use? I use Site Spinner V2. Kind of like making a Power Point presentation if you ahve ever made one. Real nice program to use. Has some kinks but, better than learning HTML! lol

Location: Minnesota | PS-I see you have some blade stickers. This company can do some real nice work. I also get my 3D holographic eyes from them. Good people to work with. They also have heavy mylar. A little heavy for my bucktails but, I think if you coudl get longer strands it would work well.

I picked up Zen Cart for free, it takes some configuring but it works nice when you have everything set. I will send you pics of the bait "naked" and you can see how I tie these puppies up. Thanks for the site, I will make a mark and look into it when I run out of my current stickers. I made a ton of them with a lable writer and they are plastic, it works in the water and I haven't had one fall off or fade yet. check your messenger....

As for the beads, it depends on the size split ring I use. I just buy the beads taht are slightly bigger than the ID of the split ring I use. Oh, and the inside hole has to be big enough for my 0.062" wire body. Call Moores lures. He has it all! |

| Ok help me out?
I have built an in-line double #9 Magnum Colorado using the .040 blades from Stamina.
How do you get these to work? Are they too heavy? They just want to hang and flutter on the bottem of the bait like a spoon?
Do all of the magnum blades do this? If I crank the hell out of it and bulge the surface they will start running right but I really don't want to run them that fast.
Is there a trick that I am missing or is this just the nature of the beast?

Location: Wisconsin | I have a prototype with the .40 blades and they are very heavy and do require a fast retrieve to get them spinning, and sometimes they just hang. It is hard to slow down and bulge. I use the .25 and they work great in all conditions. Use them and you should do just fine. |

Also took it out in a CLEAR lake and really watched it and came up with the same conclusion........"Too Heavy"
Oh well nothing a pair of wire cutters, new wire, and new blades can't fix.
How do they work on spinner baits, are they any better? or the same problem?
I would still like to find a use for the blades than just tossing them in the bin of usless items.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm, Drill another hole in the bottem and go trout fishing...........

These blades are not "too heavy". I've made plenty of tails using the .040" thickness blades, and they spin just fine.
There are many aspects to the design that have to be taken into account...spacing, clevises, etc.
These blades do spin closer to the shaft and require a faster retrieve, but they should spin just fine if the bait is built correctly.
Make you sure you start your retrieve on entry as well...that will help them get started and stay spinning. |
