The LongShot (3 oz.) comes with 8/0 hooks and #7 Willowleaf.

The BigShot (2 oz.) has 7/0 hooks and #8 Willowleaf.

The Hot Shot (1.5 oz.) has 6/0 hooks and #8 Indiana.

All LongTales are custom made to order (blade choice, body material, color, etc.) but the hook size is not inter-changeable with the different head sizes.

For those huge fish in Minnesota I highly recommend sticking with the LongShot (for the 8/0 hook) and swapping out blades as needed. My personal favorite is the LongShot with a #8 willowleaf. The larger Profile gets their attention, the #8 Willowleaf is a FAST blade (low resistance) yet still has some good thump to get ya bit, and the large gap 8/0 hooks grab and HOLD onto the big ones.

they went fishless, it's not because they didn't try. I just couldn't keep them pinned. Little pike were always stuck good.....I bet that only happens to me.
I would like to see some with 8/0 round bend hooks, and use a single spin instead of the tandem Mustads.
Don't anybody jump my a$$, it's just my preference. I hook more fish on single hook spinnerbaits, with 2 or 3 skirts and a 6 or 7 inch trailer. Caught some awesome smallies pulling those off steep breaks and then letting them helicopter.
I made some for myself out of 2 ounce blanks with 7/0 and 8/0 single hooks and #7 and #8 single willow blades.
I used them much like I would a crankbait, only they were much easier to figure 8.
I pulled them right through schools or pods of bait that was 20 feet deep or less in 50-70 feet of water.
I always thought that Indiana blades were more visual that anything else, but at that size, they put off a lot of vibration.
Nice lures for my daughter to use as well, and they are an excellent trolling option too. Easy hook removal too.
I can't wait to make some black nickel single spins for this upcoming season.
Jason, since I just made a few for myself, I used snaps for putting the blades on so I can change them at will. Do you ever do that, or plan on doing that or do they open too often?

I have no intention of using snaps instead of split rings to attach the blades. Not because I'm afraid they will open up... but because the extra length will position the blade too far back on the lure... slowing it down. I'd have to increase the main shaft or shorten the arm even more to compensate. But, if you'd like to install your own... just open the eye a little and swap out the barrell for a snap. Pretty simple modification.

As for your hooking challenges.... I'm sorry to hear that. My experience with them has been phenomenal. I pinned more fish with those tandem single hooks than any of my treble hooked bucktails. I believe having the hook points in a FIXED location and recieving all the energy of your hookset leads to excellent hooking percentages. But, if you prefer a one-hook design, we can gladly make them for you since all LongTales are CUSTOM made to order. Just tell us what you want, and we'll tie it up for you.

Oh yeah... and to add more pain to your misery... I tied myself up a few of your "Beaver Specials" and did very well with them

Hey Guts... here is the custom cisco you ordered. Hope you like it. The purple didn't show up very well in the photo... but it looks yummy in real life. Hopefully those big, fat Minnesota fish will think so too.
