I have a Fish Hawk 1850, not exactly the boat you have. The price for the 1650 seems priced a bit high to me. What year is it? The Crestliners are great boats, and the decks are nice and large.

I have a 2005 Fish Hawk 1750.

Trolling motor sounds fine for a 16 footer, but the boat is somewhat underpowered with the 40HP if you will be fishing any of the bigger lakes. That extra HP means a lot when the weather kicks up quick and you need to make a dash to the boat dock.

What year is the boat of which you speak?
Do you have any idea of how many hours have been put on the engine?

These are questions I would have before making more informed decision.

I am satisfied with the ride on my Crestliner. A safe boat when the water gets rough.

That's more than I paid for my 1650 with a Yamaha 80 4 stroke - brand new. This was in 2002, so you have to factor in inflation. But for the same boat with that much less power, sounds over priced.

Hey guys thanks for responding.. the boat year was 2005. and yes it seems to be a bit underpowered... i didnt buy it yet but a local dealer has a Lund 1700 prosport with a 90 HP Yahama 2 stroke. 55lbs trolling a nd breaks on the trailer. this one is cheaper @ $12,500. looking on the 2 web sites that fron dont look as big as the Crestliner.... Any thoughts?? You guys think it a better deal?

I can understand wanting to purchase a newer model. If it were me, I would feel better served if I purchased the newest boat that I could (afford) that was properly rigged and had what I wanted.

If you want a Crestliner for that larger deck ... then find one. You can easily find a 115HP that is matched with a Fish Hawk 1750. You might go so far as to find a 2003 that has a kicker motor as well, or maybe a boat a couple of years older would have a 4-stroke for the main engine and then you could troll with that as well.

Newer is great, but when you have a boat that is not properly rigged, underpowered, or missing key components that you feel you need to fit your style of fishing ... you can become unhappy and start building resentments that you did not do this-or-that.

I believe that Lunds are great trolling boats. If you spend most of your time casting -- consider going with a Crestliner to get those additional inches across the beam.

If you can ascertain at least an approximate number of hours that have been put on an engine, you will be much better served in making a more informed decision. A 2002 could have less hours than a 2005 that has been used as a guide boat for a season. I understand that being able to purchase an extended warranty on an engine is an important factor, and that you still might be able to do so if you found a 2005.

I have a 2001 1600 fishhawk with a 2 stroke 50 horse and I wouldn't want to go with any less of a motor that that...it'll do 25 to 30 top end depending on the load....but I quess it depends on how big of water you generall fish on. I have a 65 pound trolling motor and I'd say that its more than enough on most days...a 55 would probably be sufficient but on windy days the more the merrier. As was mentioned earlier if you do a lot of casting I'd consider the crestliner for the front deck and the beam width.

Crestliners are great boats, but the price offered is a rip off my friend.. In 2005, I got a brand new 1850 with a brand new 150 2 stroke for $5000 more than the deal you have... That included front trolling motor, 4 seats, middle of the line electronics, CD player, etc....

i JUST got an '07 1600 Fishhawk. i have the 60 horse fourstroke, wouldn't want to have less than that. i have the 55 powerdrive, and that is the lower limit, as crackpot said. i love my boat though. LIST price for mine around 14000, after taxes and all that fun stuff it got to 18500. there's a better deal out there.

Dre322,

The boat you are now describing sounds like a more complete rig than the original. The scratches can be taken care of handily by someone who works to repair aluminum boat hull finishes.

Best of luck on the water.

My buddy rides a 16' lund mr pike with a 90 on the back and it is my sole transportation on the water. That is a great combo. When pushed it will do 55 trimmed out on a flat lake. and a great layout too.

I have a very dumb question. We bought our boat last weekend (06 Sport Angler) and on the Transom at the back there are three holes at the bottom, one of course we will plug but what about the other two?
