Just curious what you guys use and how detailed you get with it?
I used to use a giant Calender like the ones teachers have on their desks for planning, but now I am thinking about putting it all on the computer.

I take lake. wind, water temp, then if there is fish action I put down the lure, depth, time, type of structure.

I have one on excel that I started using in 2005. It works great. I wish that I had started using it sooner. I can email you a copy if you want to see it.

Try doing a search in these forums. I think Travis Kopke posted an Excel template for the log he uses which I have also used ever since (I think it was posted in 2005). If not, email me and I'll shoot you my modified template.

EA's is extremely detailed. Mine has most of the same stuff - lake, date, water temp, sky, cover, structure, bait, lunar phase, wind speed/direction, and a section to write notes I feel were imperative to the catch.

I have a log I started in excel back on 1999
I have moved it to MS Access Database This allows me to run queries against me existing data.

I Track the following
Lake
time of trip & duration
locations
structures
Moonphase
Weather - temp, wind etc
Water temp
Baits, presentations
Notes
Lakemaps
Photos
Anglers
And this year I will add GSP Locations once I get a GSP unit

I think it will fit on a CD so if you have MS Access I can send it. Drop me a note and we can talk more about it.

For those using excel, why use it just as a database when you could use it (with a little know how) to produce any type of statistic imaginable? For the past 4 years I have every single active fish logged (Follow, Hit, Lost, or Boated musky) and my spreadsheet automatically produces statistics for every lake, lure, angler, and month (and am thinking about including moon phase and weather patterns) after I enter a trip. I've even went as far as creating a formula to calculate every trip a grade. Then with excel you can sort by your best days, which can be very useful. Also, you can use excel to produce charts and graphs to compare lakes/months/lures to each other.

For what it's worth, I log date, time, lake, weather conditions, wind, air and water temps, # of follows, hits, boated, or lost musky, and enter remarks about which pattern was producing the best.
