Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | but is it practical? I do a lot of driving around for my business and consequently see quite a few boats for sale on the side of the road. My wife is probably not quite ready to let me buy a boat after just one year of fishing, but I'm always on the lookout. I drove by one yesterday that really caught my eye and would like a few opinions from those of you with more experience. This baby is a real looker but I'm afraid it might be too much boat for a newbie like me. At a glance it seems to have all the characteristics I might want. It has a center console. After driving Slamr's and Joel's console boats a little bit (emphasis on little) I'm convinced when the time comes I want a boat with a console. Its design makes me think it would be real stable, especially in big water. Two comfortable seats. I like to sit in a soft seat at times during the day, and feel comfort is important when trolling. Powerful four stroke 25 horse Mercury. Add this to the sleak design and big waves should never be a problem. Fishing with three might be a little tight, but maybe this is offset by the positives. Anywhooo, here's a picture. Would this be a good starter boat for a relative newbie like me, or am I setting my sites too high. Kevin I'm not angry, I'm hungry. Posts: 8865 | Well... In all honesty, your wife might be more likely to go for something she and the kids can enjoy. If you sell her on the fact that the kids can tube, or you can just cruise, she can sunbathe, everybody can swim off it, she may very well warm up to the idea of a boat. From there it's just a stone's throw to the day when your daughter looks you in the eyes and says "Daddy? I really like our boat, but I keep banging the pontoons on my figure 8's and scaring the fish away. Can we get one of those sparkly boats with the seats on posts like the guys on TV have, like a Ranger?"

Posts: 1316 Location: Madison, WI | When we go up north i fish out of a gillgetter. LOL It's nice to have a boat on the lake. But hey it's roomy, fit all my tackle plus a net easily. We've fish 5 out of it for crappies no problem. And I did put 3 muskies in it last year. Fun times!

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | I've heard rumors of a "scary fast" Tuffy running around my area. Are the rumors true??? Edited by nwild 6/6/2007 10:09 AM

Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | tomyv - 6/6/2007 9:57 AM Hopeful, if you do get that boat, don't race slamr.............his new boat is "Scary Fast." I'm about comfort, not speed. Note the nicely padded seats offered by the GILLGETTER. Not to mention my kidneys and bladder have just recovered from our little high speed cruise around the Milwaukee Harbor following Joel back in March. Kevin I'm not angry, I'm hungry.

| It's missing a head, isn't it? I would keep searching for the fully loaded model. | |||

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | Kev, you could rig that sucker to troll the big pond. Big grill smoke'n in the front and the ladies in the bikinis (or Slamr in a bikini) laying on the back deck. You'd be the envy of all the captains out there. Slamr, I'll race ya.
