As a professional artist,, I am always coming up with new ideas that represent the forage,[SHAD] that is in lake Shelbyville. This fish moves very fast,in long 20-30ft runs. And a shallow running bait ,made of wood, with flash, is what i am after. What is the best way in the design, two pieces ,with a wire insert,or a one piece of wood, and screw eyes. Also , shop equipment that ones has to create a wood lure. As for in-line spinner, I have a new concept, like no -other. Hopfully ,I will have that ready in 08.
I was in the process of buying MRG, but that fell through, based on the BANK, and their terms. So with my degree in fine Arts, I have to decieded to paint my own lures as well as repainting others for the fisherman in Central Illinois. Any ideas that would make work easier for in getting start would be appriecated..

Location: Muskoka Ontario,Canada | Welcome to the wonderful world of custom bait making my friend! Be aware that it is a VERY tough market to make a name for yourself in these days as there is no shortage of incredible bait makers right now.
Of course everyone loves new and exciting products, myself included so give it your best efforts for sure. As far as tools go, a band saw and a router are musts if you are going to make wood lures in any kind of quantity. I use stainless eye screws instead of through wiring and have never had one pull out so that will save time and money right there.
When you are finished your paint work you'll need some sort of drying wheel to rotate the lures on as the epoxy cures or you will have uneven coats and runs etc. I've got to run now but I'm sure others will offer you some good info. Best of luck to you and don't forget to save some time for fishing! |
