Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | I Just Installed 2 new Lowrance units in my boat. and the question came to mind, How much is too much. I currently have one battery dedicated to the Outboard for starting(12v marine starting battery, 630 marine cranking amps, 530 cold cranking amps, 90 minutes reserve cap., group 24.
The other battery ( 840 marine cranking amps, 675 cold cranking amps, 180 min. r.c., group 27) has EVERYTHING else wired to it. No fuse "panel," inlines only. What follows is whats wired to that battery:
Minn Kota PD55
Lowrance LCX26cHD
Lowrance x-51
bilge pump
live well
navigation lights
interior/convenience lights
marine radio
Dont want to "field test " the set-up on vacation time miles away from home to learn the Ive got too much wired to one (above noted) battrey. Should I add another battery to the set up? If so, sholud I add it to the existing battery the way everything is hooked up or should I take some of the circuits off and wire them to a new battery? Any tips ar insight would be greatly appreciated.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The problem could potentially be the trolling motor if there is a problem at all, high drain could leave the other items out of commission. I'd have the bilge, interior and boat lights, radio and livewell on the starting battery. That's pretty standard for most boats. |

Thanks. I'll take your suggestion and try a dedicated battery for the trolling motor and put everything else on the starter battrey.

Location: Algonquin, ILL | I have 4 Batteries in my Boat,
2- Trolling Motor
1- Starting
1- Accessories
With this set up I have never had any problems and the Depth Finders, GPS screens are totally free of any Motor induced interference

I have thought about adding a third, to pull the outboard starter from the battery that also has the accessories.

Location: Algonquin, ILL | Karl: Like others have mentioned you would be better off having your trolling Motor on it's own Battery(s) as it has the highest current draw

Battery #1- Trolling motor
Battery #2 Accessories/lights/pumps/radio/etc
Battery #3 Cranking battery or wire it together with #2 combine accessories and starter?if thats possible.
