Sadly found a 40+ floating belly up. Pulled it in and saw this...
Tried to hide the fish under the landing dock and called the local DNR rep. in case he wanted to do a test. Any ideas?

I have seen fungus like that covering abrasions/injuries on the sides, head and mouth of muskies before. It is probable that fish was caught and not handled well.
