Subject: Daiwa baitcaster

I'm thinking about getting a new reel and was thinking about the Daiwa Millionair CV-z, I was wondering if anyone has used this reel and what they think about them? Thanks

I have a couple of the CV-X's and love them. The CV-X and CV-Z have both been discontinued. Everyone that has one seems to think the new Lunas are even better. I'd look into one of them over the CV-Z.

CV-Zs have anti-reverse problems. If you pick one up I wish you luck. Maybe you'll have no problems....anyhow Daiwa swapped mine out for a new Luna...hasn't been through the ringer yet, so I can't comment on it until after I use it a full season.

Millionaires CV-z 300s I think are discontinued for the above stated reason.

Best Regards,

I used a CV-Z almost exclusively every weekend, and really gave it a workout last year. It performed spectacularly without so much as a hickup.

The forum goer that mentioned that the Daiwa CVZ has anti reverse problems either is abusing the reel or has the CVZ mixed up with something else. I have used the CVZ reel in the saltwater (Gulf of Mexico) for the past 5years, caught over 500 pompano, not including incidental catches of other species of fish and have never had even a hint of anything but smooth and perfect operation. That included winching 2 pound fish straight up for distances of 25 feet. (Fishing from the Pier). I have used Ambassadors, Calcuttas, and others and nothing functions like the CVZ. I don't know how fishermen can overlook the inovations that Daiwa has such as the , seperation of the drive train from the spool during casting , by the way Shamano just started offering this technology this year, Daiwa has had it for the last 5 or 6 years , maybe more. Its like the fishermen are too lazy to even read the facts and just verbally repeat nonsense about fishing equipment especially reels. Until this year when Shamano started using this new technology there was no way that their bait casters could out cast the Daiwa simply because of the technology, now that they are offering that technology they are asking $250 more for their reels than Daiwa. Unbelievable and not nearly worth the difference. And have you seen the new Certates? NOw that is a spinning reel. I own a Sustain and it is lackluster at best , I just have a feeling given my experience with the CVZ that it too will impress the you know what out of me.
