Couple years ago I was sitting in the small airport in Escanaba, up in Michigan's UP, wearing my MuskieFirst jacket, and this old lady sat down next to me. After the usual greetings she said, with a smile...

"I noticed your muskie jacket. My husband chased those #*^@ fish every chance he got. He died doing it, too."

I quickly described my sorrow for her loss and then asked the obvious question, "What happened??" She said....

"He was fishing on Chicagon Lake and somebody noticed his boat drifting around. They didn't see him so they called the police and they found him laying dead on the bottom of the boat. But he wasn't alone. He was laying next to a dead muskie. The fish was 52" long and my son has it hanging on his wall. The police told me my husband's smile was almost as long as that #*^@ fish."

She was smiling when she told me the story. Believe it or don't.

The last thing I want is for folks to be saying, "He died doing what he liked best." I want to die long after I'm incapable of doing the things I like best.
Yeah, what color was he throwing? m

I believe the story because my brother's next door neighbor's cousin lives next to the guy that died and he told it to me late one Saturday night after a big BBQ when we drank a few beers and was shooting the bull.

Actually just wishful thinking on my wife's part.
She's probably arranging trips for me right now.

I'd rather die doing something I like...then to do die crippled up, NOT being able to do what I like!

Does this make sense??

Yeah, Donnie. I worked for an old guy one time - handsome gentleman - who'd already had two heart attacks and was told by his doc that the next would be the last. After we rebuilt an old log cabin, he rented it out to two college girls, and would go over once a month and collect the rent. Some times he'd come home with money.

He died next to one of them; she was OK with it I guess but his wife was pretty pissed and it was a real small funeral. m

Uh well...OK...I guess I don't want to die doing THAT! But then again, I wouldn't mind it if it were the one I loved that I died next to!

BUT, point understood!
