We were thinking water pump but what do you think.

I had an 03 60hp merc that did the same thing for a year and the dealer could never find it. They said just drive it. It went away after a year and i have'nt had a problem with it sence. After 100s of hours.

I have a 03 Merc 60hp that used to do the same thing. The dealer could never find the problem. It has went away a year ago. I don't know if it helped but every 5 or 6 tank fulls I run mercury fuel system cleaner.
