| Instructions say to release that collar handle and then to push on the shaft to deply motor. This is not easy to do. It needs to be lubed or something. It seems to stick alot on those 'pads' that it rests on. Anyone have this problem? It is a new motor, '06, got it in December. Thanks for any and all help. |

| bruce, The power drives/co pilots with that style seem to stick no mater what. had a pd 55 on my tuffy i just sold and have a pd 80 on the deep skeeter i just got and the 80 sticks bad to. I used alittle bit of rem oil on the 55 it helped a little you just have to hold the clip up and give the motor a little kick out with your foot. if anyone else found a cure all for this problem it would be good to know. |

| I think the new deploy release on the new V2 Powerdrives work on the previous versions. These work really good, as you push down to release, and it also pops the TM off the rests. Check with your local Minn Kota service center. For those in SE WI, that would be Ed Schilling in West Allis. For everyone else, it's probably worth your while to make a trip to have Ed work on your TM's. He's the best.
Also, make sure you give if a good pull back when you release the collar, while pushing the shaft forward. |

| i have the exact same thing (55pd powerdrive v2). JUST picked up the boat today, and when going through it, it did seem that you had to give the motor a bit of an extra shove just to get it moving. |

Location: Waukesha, WI | I put some Armor All on it. Seems to help. I read it somewhere for helping the collar slide along the shaft. Heck if I can remember where I read it.
Shep, I've been meaning to give Ed a call for replacement parts for those on the bottom of Lake X. I tried a different authorized person twice, and I was less than a little pleased. Thanks for the reminder. |

Location: Browerville, Minnesota | Armor All will keep the shaft slippery enough to the point where you wont have the problems of sticking. It also keeps the shaft from fading and other problems from the sun. |

| Thanks. There are some marks on the shaft. Like it has been rubbing on something or when I have used the motor. But I have used it only 3 times. I even forgot to move that collar down after using it, to keep the motor from deploying wether you are driving down the road or heading down the lake. That is how tight it sits on those 'skids'. I have been afraid to beat on it to help it along. Thanks again. Gotta go by some Armour-All. |

| Bought some ArmourAll and applied to to the cradle and shaft. It is the cradle that has so much pressure on the motor. And it is accross the bow to the right and I am right handed, thus I am trying to push on the shaft with my left arm, actually pull on it towards the right. The stop collar offers a handle to ease the operation, but still.....You'd think they would make this thing easier to use! Like if the cradle would drop away, or motorize the cradle. Genesis had it if I remember correctly. |

Location: Maple Grove | What works best for me is not just pulling up on the bracket but leaning back at the same time. Then a little shove forward on the shaft does the trick for me. Everyone I've ever talked to has had issues from the start but eventually you will get to know what works for you. |

| Exactly, WI-Mud Duck guy. Not just pull up, but also back on the release handle. A quick, short jerk up and back, while pushing the head of the TM forward does the trick for me. Funny, the 54" versions seem to be easier than the 60".Again, for those that have a hard time, the new V2 release works to help push the motor off the pads, and I believe this can be retrofitted on the previous PowerDrives.
The New Terrova has the fall away ramps. I can't wait to get mine. |
