I've got a creeper from the now passed Chitwood. Does anyone know how much it is worth off hand? Ty

Sniff.........sniff-sniff..........I smell a creeper......and someone's been holding out on me! I'd offer a trade, but my lures just wind up collecting dust at your place!

Gale, ya knucklehead, you weren't supposed to see this. It's going toward you anyway. I owe you for those paint jobs. I've got a couple others to give you also. Ty

I sensed a disturbance in The Force......at that point, I'm flying on pure genetics - the hunt-and-kill instinct takes over. I'm nothing but a caveman when it comes to things with wings.

Oh, you're a caveman allright! By the way, when will your shirts be coming out on the market? Ty

Jeff Chitwood passed away at far too young an age. He made specatular topwater lures in the manner of Frenchy LaMay. Among his best, were the jointed creepers he called Wave Runners - or simply "Wavers". But he also made globes and tail-knocking baits like the Hog Wobbler. Because his lure-making abilities are not at present very well known, Jeff's lures are often mistaken for ones made by Frenchy. So, it takes a degree of familiarity with both, to see the differences and make the correct ID. Although he didn't sign all his lures, Jeff frequently put his initials on the side of his lures, signing them "JC". His creepers almost always have an extra piece of hardware attached to the tail like the small spinner blade shown above. The wings will always be soldered and have a very narrow profile.

That's the one! He made some awesome stuff. His baits always souded really good. Anyone can make a bait but to have it sound as good as his is a true art. Those hawg wabbler style ones make one heck of a racket. They sound great. Ty

I caught a lot of fish on his baits. We talked a lot on the phone and believe it or not by letter. What did he pass away from? Good man that had a passion for making a bait right and for fishin. Appreciate any response in regards to his death. God bless him and his baits. He has provided a tremendous amount of thrills in my boat. Thanks JC.

I've never confirmed it, but I believe Jeff had some kind of aggressive cancer that took him quickly.
