Posts: 100 | Have Keith from Pro Edge rods make you a rod with the XXXH St. Croix blank and youll have one of the best rods for tossing pounders.

Posts: 401 | St Croix has put together exactly what folks that throw big baits are looking for. I applaud them for developing such a blank. I talked to several people from St Croix and it sure sounds like this blank was over engineered which is great for the consumer. Hats off to St Croix. Keith

I have custom rods from Frank's Custom Rods (7'8" Extra Heavy Diamondback and 8'6" Extra Heavy Diamondback) and Professional Edge (9' XXXH St. Croix), and they are worth the extra money for having the exact handle you want (in my case extended and thicker cork), the exact guides you want, and the exact overall design you specify.

Posts: 814 | I would say either a professional edge rod by Keith, or a Musky Innovations Super Mag rod either way you can't go wrong.

Posts: 2089 | I'm using a Custom built by Frank Bottiglieri(Franks Custom Rods) on a Calstar saltwater blank. It's a 9' rocket launcher.Soft enough in the tip section to load with enough power to raise the Edmund Fitzgerald. I can "snap cast" the heavy stuff and absolutely bomb cast .2 other options I've seen are the XXX St.Croix that Keith has built and the actual Pounder rods from Musky Innovations. They use good quality components and have extended lengths for a production rod.Oh so many choices. Posts: 551 Location: Columbus, Georgia | I just received a heavyweight 9 foot Diamondback made by Keith at Professional Edge. I was throwing a Magnum Bulldawg for a few minutes yesterday with no problems at all. I assume it could handle the Pounders as well. The rod butt is really thick, yet the rod itself is incredibly light. I asked Keith to make the rod primarily to throw those inline spinners with the #10 Colorado blades. The rod is perfect, as the resistance was minimal and the (my) fatigue factor was cut down considerably. Professional Edge really puts out a great, quality product. Thanks Keith! Posts: 479 Location: Eden Prairie & Pine Island | Musky Innovations has come out with its own Bull Dawg rods, and I had a chance to look at them up close and personal last night at the MI meeting. They were 8 footers, but probably have other sizes, too. Look and feel real nice, alconite guides -- 11 of them!-- and extra long handles with premium cork. Retail at $179 I think.... Will have to find some spare change before Bull Dawg season gets here in earnest. ![]()
