With all the tournaments going on now days for muskies you would think their would be easy access to many different options when it comes to bump boards. Well I have been looking for years and have yet to find one.
I would prefer a thin lightweight model ( aluminum maybe ) with increments up to 60 inches.

Please post with anything you know that is for sale out there and maybe someone with the sklills and tools can run with this one and send me there first prototype for my genius business idea. LOL

Been using the Dunwright 60" Bump Board for a year now and it far surpasses anything I've used before. It folds in half for easy storage. When you wet it down it is very slippery and takes minimal slime off of the fish. It even floats if you want to water measure your catch.

Bass Magazines come in handy!

Gator Grip just came out with a new 60" bump board that hinges at 32" for easy storage. They don't have it on their website yet, but it should be there shortly. http://www.gatorgrip.com

Made from 1/4 inch by 2 1/2 inch aircraft aluminum. Lines are laser-engraved from 10 to 60 inches in 1/4 inch increments.

The magazine I saw it in is Bassmaster 2005 Tackle Guide, Volume37, No.11

Setme did you say it's only 2.5 inches wide? man I don't want to measure 15 inchers. LOL The think has to be some 6 inches wide so the fish don't touch the carpet under the board.

Where can one find this Dunwright 60" Bump Board?

Planning on making my own some time this winter. Unless I just break down and buy one.

The Dunwright looks like the one for me.

Trophy, I never even thought about the width of the ruler. My rod locker is fiberglass, so i don't have to worry about laying the fish down on the carpet.

My friend made one for me. It is a flexible piece of slippery white plastic that is 60" long and about 20" wide with size increments on it. I have it attatched permanently to the floor where the floor meets the side rail. It is then clipped up along the side rail to keep it out of the way. I then unclip it and it flops down to the floor for easy access. I measure fish over 45" on it that I decide to bring into the boat, as it is much better on the fish than hanging them, or however else one gets a measurement. I dump a couple cups of water on it first and it takes no slime off the fish. i could get one made for you if you would like. You could trade one of your nice skippy spinnerbaits for it....hehe. Actually I'll talk to Bill(Don Kempens friend) and we'll get one made up for you at no charge. He is in mexico till march so it will be awhile.

Thanks Jason for the offer, I can actually have the thing hangning ether in front of or behind my rear deck and flip on top of it to measure fish. This is my way of inproving my release efforts for 2005.

I use a wooden bumpboard my brother made for me for a birthday gift. Wet it down and it works great.

I saw one once that really intriged me. It was a big piece of PVC pipe (like 24" diameter) that had been cut in less than 1/4 of the diameter (probably about 10 inches wide). The thing was concave and would hold water even, the sides had caps glued on. It would take up a bit of space, but I think it would be the cats meow. cradle the fish and really minimize any slime removal. I don't know if it would float?

my next one will be one like this or the 60" floating ruler.

I have a custom wooden bump board that a buddy made for me. If anyone wants to see pictures, feel free to email me at [email protected]. They can be custom made to order including any decals, stickers, engravings, or anything else you can think of prior to varnishing. The price is dependant on what you're looking for . Thanks, Joe

i think the dunwright bump boards are the way to go. lots of people have some pretty handy homemade versions, but as far as buying one i think they are the best option out there.

I though of this already to, and I'm in the middle of constructing it. I have an old boat, you probably wont want to do this but my rod locker door on the side of the boat is 62" long and around 14" wide so I'm just going to screw Lexan down to fit it perfect and on hinges with a second piece that flips up with a sticker ruler. It will be like another feature, very light and take up no room and always ready, plus it's just getting screwed on top of the plywood anyway it can always come off if needed.

I think I've had my Dunwright Bump Board for four sesons now and I love it! The best way to get a true measure of the fish. Also floats for use in water.

Me too. Have used it for years and it's light, durable, convenient. Keep it in the livewell and it's ready to rock.
