When I was younger and fishing out of a boat like that, I was using a Minn Kota Endura, 36lbs of thrust. Did a perfect job for me, but the key to everything in my opinion is a good battery and keeping it charged! I had a friend that woud use the battery a lot and wouldn't take the time to recharge it often. Do that and that setup will do you fine with that boat in my opinion.

I used to use a 30 lb endura on my 12' plastic john boat. That should move your boat pretty good as it moved my 16' aluminum boat as fast as it did the 12' plastic.
