Posts: 4266 | Anybody have any experience making lipless crankbaits out of wood? I got some 4.5" x 3/4" blanks from a friend who thought that I could make them into gliders, but I'm thinking of trying to making them into lipless cranks without rattles. Just loud paintjobs, that's all. I'm not looking for trade secrets, but what do you need in order to obtain that tight wiggle. I may not even weight them, and use them to run just below the surface. I only have 6, so if you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate them. Thanks, Beav

Basically, you want the line tie to be up on the head of the lure. Then positon the lead to be in front of the forward hook hanger and behind the nose. I would take one blank and prototype it by drilling different holes for your line tie while trying out the lead postion. Hope this helps.

Posts: 432 Location: mpls | Beaver, Mark Smith(Smuttly Dog) makes the VRB bait. It is has two line ties. One for using it like a glider and one at the top of the head for using it like a lipless rattle bait(witout the rattle). I have made some wood rattle baits before to. They are fairly straight forward. Weight them like you would a glider and put the hook hanger at the top of the head. Joe Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Thanks guys. I'll play aroud with them a little. I think that I have a clear 3/4 ounce RatlleTrap in the basement that might give me some insight too. Beav
