| Jason, you responded to a inquiry about a hand held gps I posted, and mentioned cutting the cig plug and connecting to your battery. I hope I'm catching you before you do this. The plug contains a protective fuse and a voltage regulator that drops the 12 volts to the required 3 volts. A 12 volt power source will destroy your unit and warranty will not cover it. |

Location: Yahara River Chain | I have an iFinder H2OC. In the 12V plug for the unit (male end) it is fused. I think a lot of units have this feature on their power cords.
I have also noticed that I have a fused plug on my 12V spotlight as well.
