For the last 6 years, I have been working on developing an all-purpose spinner bait. I have received numerous requests for the Peter Micol Special - the PMS. Now I am confident that this spinner bait has come together to the point that I would like to make it available to other testers. As a tester, your input is important to me. I only build a few of these unique spinner baits each year. I use the best components. The hooks are Mustad Ultra Point 6/0 and Eagle Claw trailer hooks in 6/0. The wire is .051. The skirts are constructed of Starflash material in combination with some softer silicone material. This combination really breathes when you pump it to trigger that big Muskie.
The key design features: 1) A heavy wire that has been tested over several years to come up with the correct length to ensure excellent hooking and the ability to come through a variety of cover - weeds, wood, rock, etc. 2) A head that is heavy enough to cast into the wind on those wind-swept rock reefs, without wearing you out and 3) A skirt that will not tangle, but is not so stiff that it will pulse during the retrieve.
I believe in Dick Pearson's principle of the crescent wrench lure. I put on a PMS and leave it on.
My friends and I have used the PMS from opening day until freeze up; from bulging it to grinding in the weed and from Cave Run, Kentucky to Lake of the Woods, Canada. For some catch data, go to the Redwing Lodge site at redwinglodge.net. Check out the last two weeks of July, 2006.
This selection includes: one 1.25 oz Gold/Orange Blades and Black Body; one 1.25 oz Gold/Orange Blades and Brown, Orange and Chartreuse Body and one 1.25 oz Red/Red Blades and White Body.
I will be happy to answer any questions.
