| Quick question for all of you experts!!! I have an 05 yamaha 4 stroke outbaord that was new mid summer last year. Ran it for the second half of the season.
Last fall i was traveleing a lot for work and didn't have a chance to winterize beyond adding fuel stabilizer. What steps should i take this spring to have it ready for the upcoming season? Did i potentially do any damage by not winterizing it? It was stored in a non-heated gargae.

| Should not be a problem however, a must you do the following.
Change engine oil and renew oil filter.
Drain and renew gear oil in lower unit.
It may be prudent to remove the spark plugs and turn engine by hand for a few revolutions. With fuel injection engines, fogging is not an issue as the conbustion chambers are more or less sealed.
All should be well.

Location: Waterford & Boulder Junction | I have the same motor and I run it until the end of the Wisconsin season. When I put it in the garage for the last time I add Stabil to the remaining gas in the tank. Come spring, I change the oil filter and oil, lower gearcase lube, and change plugs. I have put 6 seasons on this motor and it has never been to the dealer since I picked it up new.

| You should be fine. The only thing I could see is if you had a bunch of water in the lower unit, that could have frozen and cracked the case. If you don't have a bunch of lube dripping on the floor, your probably fine there. I would remove the lower screw for a second, and see how much, if any, water comes out. If there is any water in the lower unit, it will come out first. If it's all lube, you're OK. I would change the lube anyway, and the motor oil and filter as mentioned.
Not sure what MAC means that the cylinders should be sealed. They still need air, and the valves still have to open. But not an issue. Did you run the motor after adding the stabilizer? If not, you might want to add some fuel system cleaner to the first tank of fresh fuel.

Also, next fall, I recommend changing your lower unit lube, and checking/repacking your trailer bearings before you put the boat to bed for the winter. That way you know all the water is out of places it can do the worst damage.

get the oil changed, and filter.
lower unit oil drained and refilled.
AND...have you changed the spark plugs since the break in peroid? if you have changed your plugs since the break in, you are good..if they are the originals, change them.
Also, if you read your F115 manual, they recommend that you run Ring Free Fuel Stabilizer too...i just started using it...
I would buy the Yamaha brand. |

| One little tip if you take your batteries out in fall. MAKE SURE YOU CONNECT THE GROUND WIRE IN SPRING!!! I think I failed to do this and when I started it up this spring for the first tim I fried EVERY wire and switch from the prop to the steering wheel plus the started and computer!!!
