If you were to put new "wave Wackers" on your boat, would you go with the actual Wave Wacker company or is there another company out there that has a good reputation for this type of product?

I used whitecaps mfg out of Minnesota. Very prompt and really nice instructions. Google them and they have a site.

Whitecaps are OK from what I've seen. But I've used the WaveWackers, and I think they are worth the extra money. The people are great to deal with.

I have used Whitecaps and was quite happy. They have decent website with pricing, fit, etc. Good service, fast delivery, good instructions, etc. I have no experience with WaveWackers but if I was to buy another set I would stick with Whitecaps.

I would go with walleye masters they are also made in Minnesota. Wayne is great to deal with and the quality is great he custom made me a set for my 620 so I can throw my kicker on when needed, or back to the vantage very easy. If you look under Tony Deans site you will see his guards and their on some pics on the warrior boats website also. If you have any questions contact wayne at 218-943-6221.

pardon my ignorance, but:
Why would I need a set? Do you guys backtroll alot? or is it more for when you forward troll with the wind slower than the waves? or for when you are drifting in a good chop?
I guess I'm trying to find out if they are worth the cash, as well as drilling more holes in the boat.

muskynightmare,
I fish Mille Lacs and many days find it VERY difficult to stand in the front of my boat and control the front trolling motor and keep good boat control, let alone not fall in the lake.. The wavewackers are going to be used in combination with a vantage motor to allow me to backtroll, keep beter boat control and boat position and keep me from falling in the lake... If I only fished small water where the waves do not get too rough, I would not consider buying them...
I have a console boat and I am trying to get the boat control of a tiller...

depends on the price difference & whether you intend to leave them on full time or take them off and on every time you put the boat in the water. I have only used Wave Wackers and take them of and on each time to accomadate a cover. The point was brought up earlier the go on and off pretty easy and are durable.

How much do they cost? Are they prefit for boats, say a 2004 lund explorer?

Yes, the are pre fit for each boat. The Wave Wackers are, anyway. You'll need to tell them what year and model of boat, main motor, kicker and/or transom trolling motor. Installation is fairly easy. Two guys makes it easier. Remmember, measure twice, have a sip of soda, measure again, then drill your holes in your boat.

I had a custom satchel made for mine. Used it to store and carry them when not on the boat. Velcro closure along the top, and a velcro'd pocket for the screws. Worked out great.
