Will,

Any bait will work out suspended. The right bait for the job is the bait you can fish most effectively at the depth the fish are willing to eat at (ya, that helps I know).

My best baits are:

Ernies
10” Jakes
8” Jakes
Triple D
Big Joe
Mag. Bulldawg
Bagley DB08
Reef Diggers (old school body style)
Cisco Kids
Depth raiders
Warner crankbait (8” & 10”)

Other baits that I know work, but I just don’t give them much time suspended:
Mepps Giant Killers
Globe’s (I am using more of)
Doc’s (any walk-the-dog)
Suicks (Any chop bait style jerkbait)
