I'm headed to Vilas county this June. I'll be staying in Eagle River. I want to travel to different areas. I have three weeks what would you suggest?

If you've got that kind of time you can do a lot. You may find that you end up on a few lakes and sticking with those or you could go to a different lake every day and not leave a 10 mile radius of Eagle River. I may suggest some lakes for you and other guys would give you a bunch of others. If possible I'd keep my options open and keep in touch and following what's going on through local guides sites. You're welcome to check my reports which are updated by myself and another guide several times a week. There are a few lakes that should be on your "must" list but there are more that are worth checking out.
You may want to have some fun this winter by checking out the Fishing the North Country books. I'd consider investing in the Eagle River, St. Germain, and maybe Boulder Junction books at least.
Have you been to this area before? Let me know if I can help.

My parents have a place in Conover, which is like 10 minutes give or take a few from Eagle River, let me know if I can help you out any way. I spend a fair amount of time up there.

These people are sponsoring an outing in northern WI. I've heard their get togethers are a good time.

It's a Stromboli, not a Calzone.

I'd suggest you spend a few weeks fishing those fine waters! Tony knows his way around those parts pretty good and E.River has it's own muskie guide association if you want to hear local accents in the boat. We'll be up there June 16-24th, give me a shout. m

Trips
There is so much muskie water up there is is hard to say where to start. If you are looking for areas that are more than just day trips here is a short and incomplete list.

The Chippewa Flowage
Boulder Junction area
Minoqua
Rhinelander area
Manitowish Waters
and since you are in WI you should try and get out on Green Bay with a guide.
I know Tony Grant is a great guy, but there are allot of local guides in these areas that fish their waters every day and would be just as good if not better. There are also guides who specialize in different types of muskie fishing such as suspended or row trolling if you would like to learn some different methods. Check out the different chamber of commerce sites and will get all the info you will need.
Mikie where will you be that week I will be up there also and maybe we can meet.

Don't forget Gare's guide service, too; and Art Anderson (Muskies Inc hall of famer); I know Dannyboy has a special relationship with the fish up there and can help you out a lot. The problem you will have is deciding where NOT to fish. m

A great numbers lake nearby is Little Arbor Vitae. I recomend that you buy the book "50 Best Muskie lakes in Wisconsin", by Fishing Hotspots. That book gives good info on many lakes in the area, along with detailed contour maps and recomended areas and tactics for each lake.
