| JUST installed my new LMS-520c and the module is not responding. Checked the wireing several times and 12v is at both power leads. Called Lowrance and was on hold for 30 min. or better several times. It may be something that I have overlooked. Has anyone had the same problem? If so what was done to fix it. Please Help. Ike | |||

| i had the same issue at first when i installed mine. make sure that your gps module and display are both connected to the included NMEA network connector - you must use the network setup in order for the unit to get the data from the module, even if you're using it as a stand-alone unit that's not connected to a larger network. also make sure that the gps module has it's own 12v power supply (separate line than the display unit power supply). | |||

| Be sure the termination 'plug' is in the 'T' as well. That is a common issue. Check the power fuses, and for power to the puck as well. | |||

Posts: 159 | Make sure that both power leads are hooked up. You should have 3 grounds including the shield wire. Also make sure that your module is not too close to your unit. If its to close it wont pick-up. Make sure that the bottom of the Tee is where the module is hooked up and the resister it at the opposite end of where your wire going to the display is. As you can tell I've had some problems. Edited by kurtg 6/17/2007 10:02 PM

| I am having the same problem.....28HD I just got. Do I need to have the shield hooked up?? Also how close is too close?? that doesn't make sense since they have some that you mount right behind the unit on the ram mount??? I heard they had some bad pucks....is that true? Cory | |||

Posts: 159 | Hey. The shield has to be hooked to ground. Throw the ram mount in the trash. Thats what I had the problem with on my 28. It would respond than not respond. As soon as I removed the 28 from the Ram It worked fine. I remounted the module and never had a problem since. Is is now a foot away. Also--Plug the GPS Module (antenna) directly into the back of the unit; this will help determine if the extension cable has gone bad. Edited by kurtg 6/17/2007 10:07 PM

Posts: 734 Location: Watertown, MN | Ike If you know some on that has another unit, try plugging you puck into their unit, on my new 3200 and X-110, my module was bad(GPS Module not Responding), right out of the box. Good luck with Lowrance help, you will spend hours on hold. Troyz

Posts: 1270 | C.Painter, Lowrance does not make a mount that puts the puck right behind the unit. I believe this is a RAM base. Lowrance does not recommend putting the puck closer that 18" from the unit. Also with that mount and the unit tilted back you would be shooting yout satalite signal right through your unit. Some puck/unit combinations will work with the puck closer and some won't.
