New to this board, I have learned quite a bit. Going to Sabaskong Bay June 23-30 for the first time, I would appreciate any tips at all. I really don't know much about LOTW, usually fished in the Cliff Lake area.

Thanks, John

We are renting a houseboat out of Morson. First time doing that as well. Should be interesting. We don't have a clue where we are going to park the thing though.

I spent a couple years out of Morson on the opener. I did best when I fished weeds in the sandy bays. The weeds were just coming up, and the fish were just done spawning. I did best with smaller baits. Cranes, Shallow Raiders, Buchertails, and the small Suicks worked for me. Did just OK on Topwater baits, mainly the Tally Whacker.

We stay there around the same time every year. I'll just tell you what we caught fish on last year for the week we were there. It's usually the same patterns on lures for us every year. This is what my wife and I caught fish on in our boat.

Pacemakers 13 fish
Suicks 4 fish
Stillwaters 2 fish
Big Game Twitchers 2 fish
Ghosttails 2 fish
CJ spinnerbaits 1 fish

We normally have a few more on CJ's and Ghosttails with a few big ones on Llungens too, but last year not so much. The same pattern the other guy mentioned worked for us also....weeds and sand. The two biggest fish for the week were on topwater which was a blast. Don't be afraid to burn bucktails if the water is clear and warm.

Good luck,

Ty

Other guy? hehehe To be fair, I was there on those openers before the Top Raider came out, and way before the Pacemaker. hehehe That is why I mentioned the TallyWhacker. I expect the Top Raider and the Pacemaker would do great at that time, also. Especially if you get some chop on the water.

Also, if you can find current areas, I would definately fish those. Saddles, and between islands are good areas that will have current. A good area is by the inlet to Burrow Bay. Look at how the sand grass is bent, and cast the opposite way, so the retrieve is with the current.

Great time to be there. Have a great trip.

Thanks for the help. I am sort of new at this muskie thing, I started really fishing for them last year on Cliff and a few other lakes in the area; graduated from bass fishing. We'll see how this trip goes.

Thanks again,

John
