Location: Williamstown, WV | I was down at my brothers house in South Carolina this past summer and I saw those at a tackle store. The guy was saying they are a hot bait for striper. First thought that came to mind was man would this work for musky? I believe they ran around 39.99 for the set. Pretty cool setup.

| Looks to me like a mess waiting to happen, kind of like fishing with planer boards. I'm not that desperate to catch a muskie that I want to set up a commercial fishing operation dragging elaborate rigs around like a shrimp boat

Location: Appleton, WI | Charlie hit it right on the nose, old time striper and bluefish lures, the soft bodies are a slightly new twist, it used to be surgical tubes, not much fun to bring fish in on them. A real good thing to keep out of muskie fishing IMHO. I used them exactly one time on another guys boat, never again. |

| I wondered the same myself a while back. Some one mentioned if it would be legal in Minn. so I called the DNR. The conservation officer I spoke to said it was illegal in Minn. as it constituted more than one bait (hooks or not). Can't blame a guy for thinking outside the boat. |

| Ok..... I will admit this...............
I have done, and it does work. I had to play around with it and eventually used a clip on the center (longest lead) bait so when a fish hit it it would release (like a downrigger) and you would fight the fish without the umbrella.
Yes it works, is it worth the pain in the a$$..........................

| Reminds me of all the guys trolling for walleyes these days on TV and I assume out in the real world too- Dragging as many rods as the law allows, planer boards, various rigs, let the boat drag the baits and catch the fish, then decide who gets to reel it in. Fun for some I'm sure and guess that if I were in a tournament and could win big money I might do it, but that's not what fishing's about to me, I wanna feel the fish and not be a puppeteer.
Just my opinion, i think that if you sacrifice fun for fish you are missing out. |
