best memory was in 1957. the fish was never landed. we were perch fishing. my dad hooked a perch on his heavy stainless rod with wire line under a float. the perch stopped but a huge railway tie musky swallowed the perch. he fought and cussed that fish till it shook loose. we talked about that fish till the day he died. great memory.

The day of the first regular season football games this year as we launched the boat I said to my partner"We don't even need to start the motor" We were THE only boat at the launch and it was raining off and on all day. 3 hours and 4 fish later we still hadn't started the outboard or the locator. I caught only 1 of the 4, and it was the smallest of the night comming in at 42"!

I can only hope we find an angry pack like that again someday.

Hmmm....so many good memories.

Some of the best...

-Iowa 2004 W/Treats
-Iowa 2005 W/Cady and Duck (didn't even see a fish that weekend)
-That day I hooked that catfish with Treats...We also caught some nice Muskies and I found out that a pike with nice shoulders is like a fat chick with big t-ts...not so impressive!
-Walleye opener 2006 W/Jonesi
-The weekend after Walleye opener W/Mellott
-Frank Schnieder Tournament 2005 and Baldy's 50"
-The adventures with Baldy/Treats this year
-Spring crappie crush and summer Mille Lacs Walleyes W/Brian
-"Friday night Fights" catfishing in the summer

All great memories.

Getting my buddy his first muskie on Clear Lake, IA after renting a 12 ft lund with a 9.9 hp Merc from the Dome bait shop and trolling for 5 minutes...it was the collest thing ever and we didn't bring a net because we both thought it was bad luck...a chunky 36"er though and a hell of a memory that will stick with me forever...

My wife's first. I saw it hit, hollered for her to set the hook and proceeded to get soaked as it jumped and splashed around. Ended up losing the cradle (backed the boat up to grab it as it drifted away), getting the 3rd hook stuck in the cradle and flipping the fish into the cradle (barbless hooks no less!). Geez, am I a handicap for her or what!

driving home from the lake in rain pouring down so hard we could only go 30mph, and my father-in-law whom i'd never heard swear before says in straight deadpan, "that was a f-ing big fish."

When I caught four thirty pounders ( 51-49-48-50 ) in one hour I had thought I had died and gone to muskie heaven.

I was sure this task was to never be equaled but one night I caught and landed twin 54x24 inch pigs just 5 minutes apart casting.

To me it's like a tie. Those memories will never fade away I remember them just like it was yesterday.

the best memory that stands out in my mind out of all the blurry ones was my first big fish, Big Arbor Vitae, bluebird skys, very light chop, just got up north for a 3 day weekend with my fishing bud, we were working some weeds over, he boated a 32, fish went airborne, right next to the boat, shortly there after, I have around a 40 follow and turn away. I was pumped up cause usually it took us a little bit to get in our groove, well, we moved out to some deeper weeds, I popped on a perch suick and started crashing it through the weeds, well, I was getting frustrated but just kept casting, I didn't feel all the confident in what I was doing but figured I would make a few more casts and then switch, well, I made a long bomb cast into the sun, gave it maybe 2 pulls and WHAM! at first I was like, no way! I stayed quiet till I knew for sure what I had, but, my partner felt the boat rock, looks back at me and is like, whoa, you got one? just then, 45 inches of Pi$$ed off musky comes about 5 feet out of the water, oh yeah!!!!! well, this fish put up a fight I never knew I would get, cork-screwing in the weeds, running under the boat, and all I could see is my buddy trying to untangle the net out of the standing rods in the rack, I thought for sure she was going to leave shortly, but, he got her scooped and that was all. still can see that fish leaping 5 ft in the air, awesome! since then, its been a blur. too many fish and not enough brain space for them all.

Fishing all week and catching nothing, then having one nail a topwater 10ft from the boat and watching both the fish (20lb class ski) and the lure fly through the air, in separate directions. One of those moments when you're by yourself in a trance, and then after it happens you have to ask yourself "did I just see that?".

Watching Happy Hooker get SHOOK DOWN at the Canadian border for having a clipped Driver's License! I thought he was going to go postal when they let him go!

My best musky memory comes from Clear Fork Lake in Ohio fishing with my Grandfather. At 81 years old he boated the largest musky or fish of his life a 43", 20 pound beauty. It is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life.
